What's new

Gun battles on the LOC continuing thread.

Both sides hide casualties or significantly delay disclosures. A simple case in point, on average Indian Army is incurring 280 military casualties each year along the LoC/IB. Despite that, the reporting in Indian press is for no more than 20% of these casualties.

Let's not be so gullible about this and believe whatever the governments put out on both sides as the benevolent truth.

Not in india , not in India 2018 .

Every military , even paramilitary causality BSF at the loc is media event in india and reported by media and Army's @adgp twitter handle and also not just that local and national tv telecast their last rites and families are interviewed . Opposition parties too keep a close eye on it . Even questions are asked in parliament and govt has to give figures and can't avoid like they do in pakistan when PA refused to disclose casualty figures to your Senate members .

PS: What you are saying is probably true for at the time of war .

LOL

Each and every story of LOC casualty is reported in Indian media which you and co can read and rejoice it but it still believe it was much higher . You need a psychiatrist .
There was an Indian article claiming that Indian casualties were much higher than they were being told.

Neither country wants its citizenry to be demoralized by the casualties being taken because the natural reaction from the populace is to "hit the other side harder" to avenge the deaths. This is beyond what the militaries on either side can do because there is an equal and opposite response to each action and there is NO military solution to the situation on the LoC/IB.
A very balanced answer in a sea of overly jingoistic fanboy claims and counter claims.

Where did you got this 280 figure ??
I know most of u quote that faulty indian express story , but that is also indian media . So don't indian press reports only 20% of casualties .

These are the official figures of last 13 years

January 2005 to December 2017, revealed that total 1,684 men lost their lives in ceasefire violation by Pakistan, anti-terrorist operations, counter-insurgency, offensive tactical missions and peacekeeping missions.

Not army , but a BSF jawan and also teenage girl died in pakistani firing along the international border .

Please don't consider this anti-national and ISI-runned.

Darve said, “Ever since the Uri terror attack in September, there has been much noise around the ongoing ceasefire violations. I filed the RTI to understand what the armed forces have faced in the last few years since Kargil (conflict). The figures are shocking and indicate that we lose our jawans more frequently in ceasefire violations than we are told. I plan to write to the government to make all these instances known to the people.”

It has been already clarified 100000 times by indian memebers that it's faulty report and figure includes all sorts casulties including suicides in the army.

If the figures included suicides, it would've been much higher.

Anyway, this article exactly shows you why you should trust your "official sources"

1. Indian army under Modi Govt reports every casualty , even of BSF jawans who gets injured .

why ?

cause It works well on both in terms transparency as well Modi rhetoric against Pakistan.

So no question of hiding casualties , some in India even suspect Modi govt exaggerate LOC casualties to hype up anti pakistani agenda that suits BJP govt politics .

That is one weird logic which appears more ridiculous in the highlighted part.
While killing four Pakistani soldiers and claiming seven will certainly help Modi reach half way to his 56'' ambition, however how by revealing the true figures of own casualties help his anti-Pakistan agenda is beyond me. Pakistan bashing is the vote winner in India alas, BJP will need to hide own casualties and exaggerate on Pakistani figures to please the public and also help lift the demoralised Indian Army.

  • That Indian Express report also quoted official sources , but it had mistakenly reported all those deaths were due to LOC firing only where as the truth is that the said figures all those active duty deaths in suicides , accidents and deaths in fighting insurgency in kashmir and NE states.

Your quoting another Indian news outlet does not change the point I am making. Neither country discloses a 100% of casualties on time and in many cases they are left out of the media and lumped under some other cause. The reason for that is as I have highlighted. Both sides are taking casualties and neither side can put an end to it by putting military pressure on the other.

I cannot convince you on this one-upmanship so take my comment as is. Reality on the LoC is that both sides are bleeding equally. Anyone who thinks differently has bought into the jingoistic hype which isn't the reality on the ground.

The way this ends is that the local population starts putting pressure on their respective authorities to cool it (displaced population, children unable to go to school, damage to property and livestock etc.), which then results in the DGMOs talking (by this time both sides have vented enough and fatigue starts setting in) and then eventual cooling, with some hiccups, until the next round.

Indian forces again violated ceasefire on LOC by killing a Pakistani civilian student. The violation was aggressively replied by Pakistan killing 3 Indian solders and injuring several others, the Indian post which was involved in the violation was also reduced to dust. The situation of Indian injured soldiers is very critical

This is a developing story...........
