I think its about time Urdu be declared as the official language. That way, we will save alot of time, drafting letters in English .

Please note by making Urdu official language i do not in any way want English to be replaced with Urdu in higher education as it is not possible as yet

If they are officials then they should know basic English. Sadly we have also the same problem. Poor English proficiency level means they do not know many things of this world.

I get irritated when some one make a joke of mother tongue whether it is Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil etc. In subcontinent, somewhat english is status symbol and those who dont know english are treated as dumb (bloody hell)..Even now to maintain status Parents speak to their child with irritating english.. why the hell they cant talk in their mother tongue???

The more irritating part is to copy an accent.. I have seen many colleague who return from US try to copy their accent with rollin 'R' and 'T' as 'Th'..

English is only used as official language and it should have only that status. Period.
