GSAT-5P launch fails, satellite vehicle explodes mid-air

SRIHARIKOTA: The launch of advanced communication satellite GSAT-5P has failed. According to initial reports, the launch failed due to major technical fault in the first phase.

The rocket geosynchronous satellite launch vehicle (GSLV) exploded mid-air moments after it took off from the Sriharikota rocket launch centre in Tamil Nadu.

The satellite GSAT-5P was expected to serve the needs of the telecommunication sector and the weather department and would have eventually replaced the INSAT-2E satellite that was sent up in 1999.

It weighed 2,130 kg and the cost of its production was around Rs 125 crore.

The GSAT-5P satellite had a life span of over 13 years and had 36 transponders - automatic receivers and transmitters for communication and broadcast of signals.

See at 0:15,0:16 something broke off from the 2nd stage while launching..:what:

Its Ice foam, its normal. Due to extreme cold temperature of fuel the ice forms on the outer body of the Launch Vehicle. But yes sometimes they are major role players in launch failures.

A very very unfortunate incident....

the satellite was destroyed by Isro when it starts deviating from it's path.

@Indian members..!

Guys, Just look at NASA and Russian space agency's..!How much failure they have seen in there history of making included Astronouts..! And look at ISRO..! We are learning from our Failure..! It is sad that this launch failed but this failure will sure somehow help in saving the lives of our future Astrounouts....!

No need to get too much upset, ISRO will Bounce back..! We are Born Fighters..!

Just one line @Indians..!

Never Give Up...!

:tup::tup::tup::tup:

hahahaha most of russian and indian co developed things never worked hat a pitty for india

Its better to have something rather than nothing..We had successfull launches before..Even we delivered Italian Satellite to Space..Every space programmes have its own set backs..Surprise to hear it from a senior member like you :toast_sign:

.
Bad luck to the ISRO...but this is the way to learn. The failure of the ASLV lead to the near bullet proof PSLV program. Similarly the GSLV failures will lead to better things.

..Very very sad...

But its OK, we learn from mistakes.

Well i dont know what is wrong with India's Missile program but i feel that they want to prove too soon to the world about their abilities.Well good luck next time.
