GRSE loses Philippine Frigate project to Hyundai

Can someone compare both ships capability wise?

@Penguin your thoughts on both planforms please :)

It's difficult to break it down because only GRSE is ready to start building the ship from day one, the others cannot.

GRSE's bid won the technical and financial aspects of the deal. So tells all you need to know.

Congradz PH and well tried GRSE! There's always an another deal to work on, better luck next time.

Good Day!

No, you lost to Korean money under the table. The Koreans had the deal in their bag since day one.

It's possible. But the Philippines gave a legit reason for GRSE's loss and they gave GRSE one or two chances to fix it. And govt guarantee did not work.

So it's not just the Indian bureaucracy but looks like the Filipino one is even more creative (crafty).NFCC will just limit them to small purchases from a limited vendors and that's where they can earn a few quid.

NFCC = [(Current assets minus current liabilities) (K)] minus the value of all outstanding projects under on-going contracts, including awarded contracts yet to be started. K is 10 for a contract duration of one year or less, 15 for a contract duration of more than one year up to two years, and 20 for a contract duration of more than two years.

Possible but highly unlikely. If the Philippines really only wanted a Korean product then they would have done a g2g deal instead with HHI. All was going well with GRSE before the the issue came up and the project was planned to be awarded months ago while the previous administration was still in power.

That's fine, but I want to see the design of the Kamorta platform based on PN's requirements.

One thing for sure would be the absence of the RBU's upfront and the type of CIWS it has right now. Recently released info from MaxDefense(Ph defence blog) compared GRSE & HHI's offered subsystems. GRSE offered Exocet ashms, Simbad launched Mistral's and an Oto Melara 30mm rcws. Sensors would most likely be French/Israeli with commonality in mind for other PH Navy ships.

Sounds sweet, thanks.

Let me also congratulate the Philippines Navy for going ahead with what suits best to them. Till next time guys :)

Just a small deviation - what is the strength of the Philippine Marines now? (It was raised on the same model of the US Marines). How is the deployment of these marines on shore and on-board naval vessels in terms of percentages?

Can anyone give us the proper specs of the frigate Hyundai was offering?

As I cannot post any links yet, I would refer you to the Maxdefense blog. There in his latest entry he has in detail everything that has been released by the government with regards to the Hyundai & GRSE offers.
