It's pretty much the same case with women all over South Asia as the Indian and Pakistani women dominate the brothels in the Middle East.

I'm rather disappointed at the agencies and authorities of our own country. This human trafficking is not a new thing, and still we don't see any effective awareness or crackdown on the trafficking rings. This is not caused by poverty rather a lack of awareness programs.

I wouldn't say families of these girls are living in extreme poverty, may be low income but not poverty. These girls are lured in with fake promises of better jobs. So the key here is awareness as it's simply a case of fraud and treachery.

What you are saying does happen in the subcontinent but in Bangladesh it has stopped since perhaps, the late-2000s. The situation in our Northwest was pretty bad where there used to be a seasonal famine called Monga but as our food production increased, the Monga got disappeared. Also, the Northerners began to migrate to Dhaka and Chittagong which has improved their livelihood and income. This is why now you see they are being lured in by the traffickers through fake promises.

Brother... I am totally agree with your points and feelings. I am really feeling shame and embarrassment after reading these inappropriate comments from my fellow country friends or anyone. This is such a shame and pathetic mentality shown in this thread. This is a social issue regardless of whether these women are from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan or anywhere else. We should at least leave our politics behind when we discuss this unfortunate criminal activity. I personally condem it.
