The problem in Bombay is -

a. Lack of civic sense. People spit just about anywhere. It is high time the Govt. bans tobacco.

b. Parking - it is a mess. There are never enough spots to park, at least not in SoBo

c. The highrises are good but I spoke to a fire brigade guy and he told me that they don't have either the equipment or the training to deal with high rise fires or emergencies.

d. Cess buildings - These are being redeveloped but the progress is at a snail's pace

e. Slums - A lot have been cleared in the SRA but a lot still exist.

How much does a 1400-1500 sqft apartment cost in one of the more developed areas of Bombay proper ..? approx ..?

That's a tough one because a number of factors govern property prices in the city. Location, views, the apartment complex itself, proximity to public transport etc., all govern how much you pay. On average, I'd say ₹50,000 per square foot is what you'd part with in south central-south Bombay.
