Bangladesh GDP is about $130 B. At 6 to 7% growth it can double to about 260 B in 8 to 10 years, be bigger than pak GDP in about 8 years. Pak (over)spends on it's military at 6 to 7 billion. By and large BD budget should be less than that. India spends some $ 40 B, it's coz we got an economy of 2 trillion and growing. Just keep focused and don't get too distracted- you guys are getting there. Don't rock the boat.

Current GDP for Bangladesh is $186bn not $130bn. It's expected to be $310bn by the end of 2019, in 10 years it's expected to reach almost $470bn.

in the the long run i see decreasing indian influence simply because the 71 generation will become irrelevent . hence less emotions about independce war. ( an example is the 1947 generation ask your grandparents in bd and they will talk fondly about jinnah but the 71 generation not so much )

Bd wont be a existial tthret like pakistan or china for india. but definetly i expect bd to give india a bloodied nose and broken arm, and force the indian govt to spend significantly more resources to counter bd military on the indo bd border in the future.


to be honest i will be very happy if bd can stop indian influnce in its internal matters and stop extremist groups from taking power in the country and grow its economy and military and have a look east ( pro china ) diplomatic policy.

No. The gap will lessen as BD has more scope to increase spending compared to India.Also BD will have access to advanced weapons from China at lower prices than India have to pay the West.

Also do not forget that India has a far, far more powerful China and Pakistan in the west to deal with.

JF-17 and the other ship was co-developed as is the tank which is almost entirely Pakistan, it was not made in China. So we didn't technically sell anything like a whole product to Pakistan, unlike the Brahmos, if you do sell, would be a whole system, not a co-development deal.

Before anyone say India didn't do it yet, well neither has Bangledesh.

No Indian calls for India to be used by US, even to contain China. At most some call for being ally, but not puppet. You would never see any Indian to wish for a heavily dependent (on a foreign entity) policy. Even Pakistani poster don't say that they are being used by China or approve of any such notion. It is solely a BD phenomenon, where they rejoice at the thought of being used by China.

Look my Indian friends, BD has a rapidly growing economy and we will soon have money to buy good numbers of advanced weapons from China. They will sell both to profit financially and also strategically as then India will have another decently powerful state in South Asia to deal with. With Pakistan in the West and BD in the east, most of your resources will be required just for South Asia then. This frees the Chinese to then spend all their resources to dominate East and Central Asia.
The days of Indian meddling in BD will soon come to and end.
