Railways to seek cabinet approval for funds for three new dedicated freight corridor

NEW DELHI: Firming up plans for expansion of the dedicated freight corridor (DFC) network, railways will seek cabinet approval for arranging fund and acquiring land for the new three dedicated corridors.

Railway Budget 2016-17 has proposed the total 5769 km long track comprising three more dedicated freight corridors in the country to ensure faster movement of goods.

RITES has undertaken the preliminary engineering and traffic system study of the proposed three new routes to ascertain the traffic projection and the report has been submitted to railways, DFCC Managing Director Aadesh Sharma said here today.

The proposed new routes are the 2327 km long East - West Corridor connecting Kolkata to Mumbai, the 2328 km long North - South Corridor linking Delhi with Chennai and the 1114 km long East Coast Corridor from Kharagpur to Vijaywada.

Railways will go to cabinet for approval of arranging funds and beginning the process of acquiring land for the new corridors, he said.

The market share of railways is expected to go up to 50 per cent from the current 18 per cent with the operation of DFC.

While railways will earn revenue from freight movement on the dedicated corridors, DFCC will earn access charge which is about 35 per cent to 40 per cent of the revenue earnings.

@fsayed if we can continue to build our infrastructure like this for 10-15 years more, at this pace, then we are very much in the race to become a truly middle income country, and to be in the top league of nations.

Anybody know how far along the other corridors are?
Dedicated Freight Corridors Edit

Sanctioned Dedicated Freight Corridors Edit
Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, (Dadri, Uttar Pradesh to Jawaharlal Nehru Port, Mumbai — 1,468 km).[3]
Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor, (Ludhiana, Punjab to Dankuni, West Bengal — 1,760 km).[3]

Proposed Dedicated Freight Corridors[4] Edit
Bangalore - Chennai Dedicated Freight Corridor
This DFC goes through Bangalore-Chennai Industrial Corridor promoted by Japan & India.(There are proposals to extend this line to Mangalore to connect India's biggest Petrochemical complex, international air-cargo facility(direct flights to gulf and Europe) and major seaport in Mangalore with Whitefield ICD(Inland Container Depot), through a tunnel being constructed with the help of Japan in Western ghats.[5][6] This will result in hazardous petrochemicals currently being transported by road through tankers migrated to the railway cargo, resulting in efficiency improvements in country's energy security and safety to the common people living alongside national highways).

This project is bigger then any project in Asia currently around 90 billions of dollars even almost double then CPEC
So India is going to be a $40TN economy after it is complete, right, right*????!!!:whistle:

* according to many esteemed members on PDF, $46BN is going to increase Pakistan's GDP by a factor of ten so $90BN will increase India's by a factor of twenty, surly?

Friends This project is actually struck all thanks to Kongress regime bring land law, farmers not agree to give land 15 % land still need to be acquired.
Around 95% of the land for the WDFC has been purchsed (stated by the Railway Minister a few weeks back). The WDFC will be complete/operational fully in late 2018/early 2019. The UPA really lost their way with this project despite it being a very good concept, they did a poor job in its execution.

Shouldn't the dollars start flowing from Indian drains too?

Not so, because DFC is NO CPEC perhaps?
