Greece uses Patriots to put four Turkish F-4’s under radar-lock: General Staff

do you really think that Turkiye will atack greece ? why we gonna atack greece ?
To claim some islands,to enforce your Mavi Vatan doctrine and grab the EEZ or because Erdogan and AKP could use it to rally the country and win the elections or postpone them. Many reasons.

Remember we almost came to war like 3 times since the late '80s.

Erdogan talks about Mavi Vatan,Cavusoglu talks about reopening the Lausanne Treaty,Akar talks about EEZ,Bahceli talks about "reclaiming" the Dodecanese islands.

as i understand you have to give back islands according to lausanna treaty thats why you try to defend them but according to international conventions and treaty you have to give back So it is better to give back islands to which belong Turkey. Or greece will arming islands and clash will start it is not good for both sides.

Erdogan is in political trouble. He always uses outside trouble to get support inside. If Erdogan is about to lose the election i think evrything is possible

See its stuff like this. We dont have to give any islands. These islands are Greek since thousands of years. With a greek population. You think we give our people into certain death?

The Turks did not take any of the islands from the Greeks. To put it more accurately, the Turks saved the Greeks from massacre and persecution in some of these islands. The most prominent example of this is the conquest background of Cyprus. Aegean Islands were taken from Venice and Genoese. Rhodes was taken from the Knights Hospitaller. The island of Crete was taken from the Venetians and the Knights of Malta. The island of Cyprus, on the other hand, was taken from the Venetians.

In these years, the island settlements in question were not entirely composed of Greeks. However, they were mostly the servants of the trading states or religious cult structures that I wrote about above. The Ottoman dominance in the Mediterranean created a prosperous and secure environment for the Greeks living on the islands. The Turks received their reward in the Cretan and Sakız massacres centuries later.

Regarding the Lausanne agreement, this agreement does not have an expiration date. In a way, this agreement is the Aegean peace agreement. Violation of this agreement would mean breaking the terms of peace. Whether it's 100 years or 300 years from now.

The part of this agreement regarding the Turks of Western Thrace is a separate topic of discussion; However, roughly what should be known about the Aegean is that Greece always tends to erode this agreement. The first and perhaps most important of these initiatives (the increase of sea borders from 3 miles to 6 miles) was not objected, as a gesture by the Turkish side, due to the very good Turkish-Greek relations at that time. However, Greece was not satisfied with this and put forward the demand for 12 miles, and this is an attempt that can never be accepted and is perceived as offensive, since it will be an attempt to completely block Turkey's access to international waters. As soon as Greece officially declares it and prevent freely passage, war will break out. I assure you 100%.

The official transition of the mentioned islands' sovereignty of Greece was ensured by the Lausanne agreement. The texts of these agreements are very clear and the terms of this sovereignty transfer are clearly written with the Treaty of Lausanne signed in 1923 and the Treaty of Paris signed in 1947. Turkey is a right arising from international law to demand that Greece abide by these agreements. These are also means the title deeds of Greece's islands. A smart landlord won't try to burn their deeds.

No honey, the Turks took the entire homeland from the Greeks. Anatolia, the mainland, the islands. Everything.

Turks had a habit of not keeping their word often and after surrender or evacuation of the Latin soldiers, they would plunder the city and kill citizens. Sometimes they would kill the soldiers who surrendered as well.

But anyway,no you didn't save us from the massacre and persecution. Venetians may have been a bit rough on the locals, but the Knights of Saint John were getting along very well with the Greek population of Rhodes.

Yeter. If we start talking massacres again, you'll be on the losing side. It's going to be a whole different thread.

But we are allowed by international law to do it. We haven't done it in the Aegean, but we are allowed by international law to do it.
