Greece is set to recognize the state of Palestine in a parliamentary vote to be attended by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, a government source says.

A solemn ceremony will accompany the vote on Tuesday as Greece joins dozens of other countries that accord recognition to Palestine, the source says.

Abbas in Athens will meet President Prokopis Pavlopoulos and Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.

Last week, the Greek parliament’s foreign affairs committee unanimously approved a motion to recognize Palestine.

I thought Greece and Israel were getting along?..

. .
the current government is very left wing, it was bound to happen sooner or later, israels relations with greece may take a hit but it will be short term, israel is not stupid enough to hinder relations with greece for the long run.

.
The political attitude of the Greek government does not matter. Very different states have recognized Palestine.

That explains why Greece has suffered the same fate as Argentine did at the hands of the bankers

Because they are generally lazy and like to work low hours and dont invest into proper infrastructure?

Anyway...UN: 177 countries vote in support of the right of Palestinians to self-determination | PNN

177 countries voted for them, these didnt

Israel, United States, Canada, Palau, Micronesia, Marshall Islands, Nauru

So that sort of defeats your statement.

Haha, I love how those last four countries voted against Palestine. Nauru has a population of 10,000 and it seems it has a UN vote, and THEY think that Palestine is not worthy enough for UN.

Welcome Greece to the civilized world, the only countries that doesn't recognize Palestine are those stuck in the middle-age.

Thats because Israel (USA etc) buy their votes. It has nothing to do with "THEY think that Palestine is not worthy enough for UN." It has all to do with money.

They are mostly old "US Empire" type of nations, they are free but not through choice, they are free to govern themselves aslong as they back the US which for them isnt a bad choice considering they lack any defence.

Canada is strange, they are very supportive of everyone normally and they have supported Palestine in the past but I think its US/Jew pressure and I think they mainly WANT a peace settlement, no other farting around like every other nation does, they want this to be resolved via peace, typical Canadians.
