Iraqis had seriously bad ammunition no?

yes they had pretty bad ammunition.The APFSDS they were using was from 1972 with around 340mm of penetration.But this wasnt the only problem they had poor training and bad tactics.

T-72s were decent tanks. If they had planned differently and better results would have been difference.

Although i agree that if they planned diferently result would have been different but the iraqi T72s were not decent they were obsolete in front of modern M1A1Abrams.The best soviet tank at that time to take on the M1A1 was T80BV and T72B both of which the iraqis didnt have.The version of T72 which iraqis were using was T72M1 improved variant of T72A with better protection around 410mm against APFSDS.But this was not enough to survive a hit M829A1 of the US abrams.
