I don't mean to read into people's thoughts, but I am becoming gun-shy here, a bit. I thought he was trying to put a Christian/religious slant on it. If so, I apologize.

I was just wondering if that was based on some true story or was just fiction. I noticed how religious he was, but I wasn't trying to portray him as a "crusader" as the crusades are long past.

I think it made his character more interesting, for lack of a better word. Here's a man who is extremely devout, but also extremely deadly and skilled. In the same way the "coward" character was interesting... The knife fight scene, when the German is saying "Shh, shhh" while he slips the knife in, and the coward is hiding in the stairwell the whole time, was very intense.
