McDonald's goes vegetarian in India

In the States, going into McDonald’s as a vegetarian is usually a pretty miserable experience. Occasionally you’ll find one that serves veggie burgers but they’re usually disgusting, and there’s not much for you except the fruit plate and the ice cream (even the french fries aren’t really vegetarian).
McD’s pretty much invented the book on mass-distributed frozen death in patty form. Which makes it a symbolically potent, unexpected twist that the Golden Arches are going veg at a new store in northern India.
As BBC points out, “Religiously observant Hindus see cows as sacred and avoid beef, while Muslims view pigs as unclean and avoid pork.” The vegetarian McAloo Tikki burger, on the other hand, is a win all around, accounting for 25% of sales at McD’s 271 stores in India.
The all-veg McDonald’s will open up shop near a temple in the Sikh holy city of Amritsar. Meat is not allowed at the temple, and the region has many vegetarians.
BBC notes “Rajesh Kumar Maini told the news agency: ‘There is a big opportunity for vegetarian restaurants as many Indians are vegetarian.’” McD’s is already planning their second all-vegetarian location.
Indians take their vegetarianism seriously. The rebellian against English colonialism in 1857 was largely due to the bullet casings that needed to be bitten off before going into muskets supposedly being coated with lard. Being forced to bite into pig fat was an ignominy the Indians would not endure.
In a quick 150 years Indian vegetarians have gone from callous hegemony under the world’s leading superpower to having one of the world’s most powerful corporations cater to their beliefs. Progress!

India should already declare itself a Hindu Republic...

Demand and supply. One of the biggest tenets of marketing/business. McD's may serve beef but then who would eat that in India? Does it make any business sense? NO. So what is YOUR problem? Its a corporate decision, no one forced them.

Again, it wasnt the Hindus per se, but the Sikhs who didn't want beef served near their holy place. Did you miss that one? Read what you post carefully. Idiots!! Again for the umpteenth time, beef is readily available in India. Beef can be buffalo meat or oxen meat. Just now cow meat. Why is THAT such a problem to Pakistanis?

Ho Ho ho! It was the Muslims who had an issue with pig lard on those cartridges and Hindus supported the Muslims soldiers. Why is that only a Hindu problem now, eh?
Btw, 1857, they refer to us as Indians, not ancient Pakistanis nor Hindus and Muslims. What does that tell you?

Buddy, a suggestion: shove your misplaced concerns into the deepest recesses of your rectum and BURN!

One of the advantages of being semi illiterate like the one here is ...one does not realise, how big a fool, he is making of himself, when he makes assumptions based, solely on the heading(probably does not even have the literary skill required to read through the article) and then alters that heading to his own idiosyncrasies.

Following quotes from the article, briefly points out, what the author has tried to say in the article.

As BBC points out, “Religiously observant Hindus see cows as sacred and avoid beef, while Muslims view pigs as unclean and avoid pork.” The vegetarian McAloo Tikki burger, on the other hand, is a win all around, accounting for 25% of sales at McD’s 271 stores in India.....

A vegetarian burger? How does that work?

And yes, vegetarians should avoid the french fries. They deep fry it in all sorts of stuff.
