Great places to eat Halal in London and places to visit?

.
Well you should have told that you are student. :). Avoid Madam Tussads then, it is expensive but you may get some offer (like Tussads + London Eeye for 24 quid, but I still think they are overrated, depends on you really.)

Some more museums:
1. Science museum
2. Victoria and Albert museum
(Both these and Natural history museum are in one area)

3. National art gallery (guess its free not sure)

London is pretty safe, but be careful at night, teen gangs are scary.

There are two more places you can consider visiting outside london (stonehenge and bath)

Some useful websites.
gumtree.com
tfl.gov.uk
nationalexpress.com
nationalrail.co.uk
megabus.com

Get an oyester card as soon as you touch down. There could be student concession for many things, also for travelling together. Ask before you buy a ticket.
The science museum is pretty cool, not your typical museum.
I would strongly advise anyone of going to stonehenge to reconsider. It is dire. A few stones in a field. Do not go, waste of a day.

Well yeah, my personal bias. Go only if you wanted to know more about a wallpaper in Windows XP. :)
It is also a world heritage site, the stones are a wonder, and landscape beautiful.

But why? Stone Henge is an important part of Britain's history and history of human civilization.

Yep. I wanted to say that too. But guys who went with me were disappointed with a few stones. So sad.

Also one can visit stonehenge, salisbury cathedral and bath on same day.

You can no longer walk around them. They aren't even very big and you are bored after 5 minutes as soon as you realise they are just stones.
I'd much rather go to the Tower of London or something, have a gander at the crown jewels or something. Or if you are into history go to windsor castle which is much closer to london.

i congratulate you on your honesty, i am really annoyed at few stones getting such publicity

Hi guys

Im gonna visit London soon. Since there are so many Londoners in this forum i would like to hear if you have any recommendations for food and other fun stuff to do in London:)
Welcome bro,

What kind of food do you like? if you are happy with Pakistani food only --- just like you mentioned in your second post.... there are too many Pakistani restaurants almost anywhere in London. First thing you must keep in mind is halal food in London is available in at least 90% of the entire London area so it really depends in which area you are staying in London. If you can tell me the location of your stay in London, i might be able to advise you appropriate restaurants in your local area. But if you want me to give you few names --- go to Tayyab Restaurant in Whitechapel or Mirch Masala restaurant in Ilford, Hounslow or Tooting etc. There are also cheap alternatives available if you don't want to spend big money on food.

You can take my phone number in PM if you need to ask me something during your stay in London.

Thanks for the tips guys, i appreciate it :D By the way, i love Indian and Pakistani foods, that is actually part of the reason im gonna visit London. Plus the flight fare is really cheap from Denmark 65£ !!
We thought about primarily visiting the Museums since they are free of charge. We also considered to visit the zoo aand the underground aquarium. I don't think i will visit the wax museum since it is darn expensive, people say its nothing special anyway. I am a student so i have to keep my wallet tight :D

Please do visit Madame Tussauds. Those who did not like the wax museum are probably always in hurry and had not seen the whole of Madame Tussauds. Its not only the wax museum inside this building.... there is too much to see in Madame Tussauds... For example the 4D Cinema at the end of your visit in Madame Tussauds is fascinating. I have never seen anything like that in my life.

Please do not waste your time by visiting Science Museum and I would also not advise you to visit the Victoria and Albert museum. I find both museums very boring. I don't know for how many days you are coming to London but let me give you the name of few of my favourite places in London.

1) London Eye + Madame Tussauds + Sea Life London Acquarium in Combination ticket to save some money (also London Dungeon or Tower of London if you have more money to spend)

2) London Eye River Cruise is must

3) Natural History Museum & British Museum are must if you have interest in Museums

4) A walking tour starting from Westminster (London Eye) towards Trafalgar Square >>> Piccadilly Circus >>> Leicester Square >>> Oxford Street etc is highly advisable if you plan to see London on Street level and also aiming to do some (expensive shopping before going back). Trust me the Expensive shopping in London is still cheaper than high street prices of Denmark. I have been to Copenhagen before so i know what i am talking about.

5) You can also visit National Portrait Gallery, Tate Modern or Tate Britain if you have any interest in visiting the Art museums.

Just do a mix n match of these places and if you are keen to visit most places for free... choose Royal parks such as Regents Park, Hyde Park, St James's Park, Buckingham Palace from outside and all the museums i mentioned in my above comments as all of them are free. I can mention many more places but I doubt you will be going on all these places in just one short trip

Never go to madame tussauds! Every time I have been there I have come out dissapointed, and its expensive!

I have an interest in history, despite that I wouldn't go to stonehenge, total anti-climax.

I love the British museum; the three museums in kensington including the science museum are also good.

Yes, all museums are free.

You must get a travelcard, there are several types, ask at any tube station for advice. Otherwise travel prices will kill you.

Google etap hotel, specially the one in hounslow, London. Etap is a great chain of cheap, clean no nonsense hotels. Hounslow is not central, but if the hotel is cheap, loads of halal food in this Asian area, and the tube takes you straight into town.

Never take a a black cab, unless you're an international financier.

Tower of London is well worth a visit.

Camden market (camden tube station) if you have female companions who like exotic/unusual clothes.

My two pence.

Just remember; for food, accomodation or entertainment you don't have to spend a lot of money.

If anything is expensive it's probably not worth it.

Madame Tussauds is must must must must must

I have been there for like 6-10 times since past 12 years and a part from once or twice (when the Planetarium was closed) I was never bored in this building. Now after the introduction of 4D Cinema... Madame Tussauds has regained its lost charm and is high on my list and I would definitely want to visit again if someone come to visit me in London.

I am comming! :)
It's the two of us lol, I hope we will have great time. And thanks alot to all of you, with your great suggestions, we will definitely consider visiting those places!

That 4D camera thingy in Tussauds sounds quite interesting, so I guess we will reconsider our decision about it.
