Representatives of All India Christian Council on Tuesday filed a fresh complaint at the Sabarmati police station in connection with the January 26 incident in which some graves in a cemetery in the area were allegedly razed by some unidentified people.

Councils president Vasant Christian had filed a complaint with the Sabarmati police station on January 26 but the police allegedly took no action, saying they have taken photographs of the place and were probing further.
Council members claimed when they contacted the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, they were told the civic body did not clean up religious places, burial grounds or private plots. They alleged the flattened graves were already being used as parking lots.
Samson Christian, a national-level leader of the Council who recently visited Ahmedabad, said, Law and order has collapsed in the state. Now, even burial grounds are not safe in Gujarat. Christians in Gujarat seem to be the next after Muslims.
The land for the cemetery was provided by the Western Railways before 1947 and seven churches of in have been using this cemetery since then.
