I call it useless and waste of money... it is not even a great show because the world have move forward quite a lot..It will be an achievement when we will send a man onboard our own designed and developed SLV... otherwise it is nothing more than buying a first class ticket in an expensive airline.

Send a man into space is like having a driver but no car.

In fact, I would have decided in favour of SLV 100 out of 100 times instead of sending a man in the space I don't see any benefit in doing so whatsoever...


TBH, I don't see any benefit..it may be a personal gain for one individual but that's it. Nothing new. While if invest in SLV, that will be scientific advancement and we can earn money by launching our own satellite and also from other countries. So there's not much to take credit for this futile waste of money.

SLV development and training men for space are different things. Sending a man on our own in our own vehicle will be financially prohibitive.

Training astronauts with Chinese help and sending them to space in their vehicle will be beneficial to us at a lot less expense.

SLV development along with manufacturing satellites should be the top priority.

Agreed not urgent but there is no harm in training as it will only give us more exposure.

Benefit are numerous, the obvious one will be

there is no role of fawad in this, space cooperation agreement was first signed b/w China and Pakistan during mushy era and agreement for manned space mission was reached during previous government tenure

I don't know but surely they may be in his tenure. The last 10 years is just destruction in all sectors .
And we need to start somewhere .
Personally if you ask me countries like Pakistan has no use of wasting money on space technology but surely we need to Maintain the status parity with neighbor and we need to get this technology too

You are talking about Namira Salim who is supposed to fly on Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic flight whenever that is possible.

Actually that won't really be space travel because it will be travel to 80 kilometers height from sea-level which is called Sub-orbit, not actual space which begins on Earth at 100 kilometers from sea-level.

Congrats!

For those who think it is a waste of money consider two things:

1. Think of the encouragement it will provide to Pak as a nation, which is often starved of good news.
2. Pakistan already several times what it would spend on this mission by way of development spend, so diverting a few mn dollars would make no difference. The problems of Pak lie elsewhere.
