I know scum like Goraya, the PTM guys and others are trash. Every country has them. Sure I'd like to mute them, but a mature guy would never want to silence them. That is an indication of weakness. Then there are a lot who criticise but at the same time praise when things are done right. They have good intentions. Don't silence them.

This will be used against Liberals calling bad names to Army and its institutions . Come on, go and visit PTM , SAATH forums and Political Social media accounts/pages . This is for serving Armed Forces personnel and not for retired or who joined Senator ship or SAPM .


Judiciary already issue contempt of courts orders for themselves who criticize them or don't obey

while we have no Marshal Law now for 13 years particularly ( Nov 2007 ) and 18 Years officially ( 2002 ) it was much needed step . I don't want to repeat the slogans which they suffer sometimes while High courts and SCP frees them .

Politicians calls each other bad names Niazi , Diezel , Dengue biradraan , Easy load e.t.c .

Note the wording, not just “ridicule”, but “defame” and “disrepute.” So potentially any criticism can fall under these definitions.

The government has its priorities wrong. Instead of introducing such idiotic laws, it is better if media and social media is properly controlled. Most of the media in Pakistan is getting its funding from oversea agencies. Why does the government not ban such media outlets?

It’s likely that this wasn’t the government’s own idea, the timing of this is relevant too. This government is beholden to the army leadership. They can break this government at a moment’s notice if IK steps out of line.

True bahi we need to control not just media but also force social media giants... not the way they tried before this time put some taxes on them as they earn money through Pakistanis especially Facebook, Insta and Twitter and YouTube... other than that they should pay for amount data being collected on Pakistanis so that they refrain from collecting the huge amount of data... and lastly after that we should force them to make policies that stop anti Pakistan and anti Islam propaganda (use indian missuse as a reason to do so)...

Defamation: Whoever by words either spoken or intended to be read, or by signs or by visible representations, makes or publishes any imputation concerning any person intending to harm, or knowing or having reason to believe that such imputation will harm, the reputation of such person, is said except in the cases hereinafter excepted, to defame that person. 188[] 188 Illustrations​ (a) A says: "Z is an honest man, he never stole B's watch", intending to cause it to be believed that Z did steal B's watch. This is defamation, unless it falls within one of the exceptions. (b) A is asked who stole B's watch. A points to Z, intending to cause it to be believed that Z stole B's watch. This is defamation unless it falls within one of the exceptions. (c) A draws a picture of Z running away with B's watch, intending it to be believed that Z stole B's watch. This is defamation, unless it falls within one of the exceptions.
500.	Punishment for defamation: Whoever defames another shall be punished with simple imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both.
501.	Printing or engraving matter known to be defamatory: Whoever prints or engraves any matter, knowing or having good reason to relieve that such matter is defamatory of any person, shall be punished with simple imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both.
502.	Sale of printed or engraved substance containing defamatory matter: Whoever sells or offers for sale any printed or engraved substance containing defamatory matter knowing that it contains such matter, shall be punished with simple imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both.

I have never witnessed Tort laws ever implemented in Pakistan. If you observe our history of electronic or print media along with Politicians and their "political tactics"...they have survived by making slanderous/libelous accusations on Live TV without having any fear of accountability. Our judicial system has reached to such low levels where Lahore or Islamabad High Courts cannot implement their own decisions despite giving strong observations thrice or more, and Veteran lawyers are able to delay case proceedings for years without any moral or ethical sense of responsibility.. Point is that defamatory cases have usually not given priority in such hopeless situation.

indeed otherwise they would have included themselves in it at priority basis however it will become a fashion as other institutions will also demand the same law and critical analysis will die out. The thing people dont understand is that it has been going on for some time since 2016 with the rise of the cyber crime bill where posts criticizing the army have been targeted. This is basically making it more iron and from 2017 it has been fashion of the government, especially PTI to state that criticizing both the army and the judiciary is against the constitution something the judiciary happily backed by stating that nobody can criticize them and ofcourse the recent threat to ban youtube due to criticism.

The army, political class and judiciary are products of the people and thus they hold the same small mindedness when it comes to criticism. The people had to be criticized. You start criticizing anybody, it wouldnt matter if you are right or wrong, that person will take it personally especially if that person is in any position of power. Take the legal field for an example. You criticize your senior on anything and you have made a powerful enemy irrespective of how much you did for him. Yes men and praises, that is all this nation wants and in turn that is all the elite wants, the military, judiciary and the politicians. I will give you another example. Lets take Punjab disaster minister mian khalid an acquaintance of mine, Akram, a journalist wrote simply a post on twitter pointing to the broken roads and the sewerage condition in sheikhupura and asked where is the administration? He gets a call from Mian Khalid asking him to keep a lower hand and not criticize. All of us know Mian khalid, Rose to power during Q league era. That guy couldnt take that much criticism. The point is that nobody can take criticism and the elite is the only one that have the power to throw you into jail.
