I second this. Mainly for election purposes and keeping political score. No one in Bangladesh takes this seriously - except AL hacks.

I mean - it has been almost fifty years and most of these Razakar folks (as well as Pakistani soldiers) are DEAD and six feet under.

People should keep this in mind before getting incensed and flying off the handle...

And we in Bangladesh should stop parroting this and move on.

Sometimes, fate play a strange game with some people. Patriots become traitors, and traitors turn patriots, depending upon, which side wins.

If Pakistan had won that war, part of my family would be treated as traitors. Pakistan Army burned our house and neighbors in search of my Mukti ancestors. I would probably do the same or worse if some people were working against my country. If I wasnt in Military service I would probably join the voluntary groups to defend the country. They have this bad fate to land on other side of history. No way it should be an agenda to make their life miserable. Sheikh Mujib already pardoned them. We get along with the people well, even from Razakar background. My ancestors were just from opposition top brass who Pakistan deemed a threat. They didnt fight with Pakistan that much. If Pakistan had dealt the situation wisely we could sort things between us. By the grace of root level democracy nowadays our position is replaced with over excited Rckshaw pullers without any grasp of Politics, so we have to deal with this. They just do this to show their loyalty. These guys can come up with anything from any well background Muslim family and he will have ties to Pakistan.

Ashraf class is well suited in our part of the world. It doesnt have to be taken seriously like racism of west or like Hindus. Ashraf class is people of extreme level of nobility, wisdom, strength, connection etc. He doesnt have to look down on people. But the sense of nobility and try to spread his wisdom among others. As large number of people in our part doesnt have these, The so called lower people just have to gather the wisdom from the Ashrafs and make their ways up. A lower origin people can turn Ashraf and spread his wisdom among others to lift everyone's way up. If the lower people doesnt gather anything and stays lower forever, in the process making the Ashrafs the lower too. That way society remains in the same place.
