Although, the new army chief already took charge of the most powerful office of the country at 1100 hours this morning. So it doesn't really matters as no powers were either relegated or consolidated with the office of JCSC, as it still remains more a ceremonial office.

The idea that revamping the said office -CJCSC- would consolidate the executive powers which till today been exclusively held and exercised by the Army. That means effectively ending the monopoly of Army and thus, making other services chiefs contenders for the top military office of the country, the CDC. The revamped office would therefore serve as the central command for all three arms of the military establishment.

The major advantage would be ending the resentment of Airforce and Navy, which till today have served (unfairly, in my humble opinion) under the command of Army with next to no role or say in central decision making process. Additionally, its also a kind of safeguard of preventing Army once again adventuring and derailing tthe democratic process of the country.

Anyway, that was my 2 cents on the matter but, alas! No such thing materialised as the old command structure continues with the relegation of command to General Raheel Sharif. Here's hoping he proves to be a worthy son of this soil. God bless Pakistan. Amen!
