Government Likely to Invite PayPal Once Again

This is what people use to say when Government was trying to start 3G 4G services.
Who's gonna use it?
Very few people own smartphones in Pakistan and all this type of negative talk.

And then the Tele companies also started to believe all that and it was very hard to convince them to start these services and they eventually did and today only Zong has more than 11 Million 4G customers and they were one of the first companies to offer these services. And altogether Pakistan has more than 50 Million 4G subscribers.

Let this new service start and believe me people will find use for it and it'll become part of life for many people but it has to start from somewhere. And then other companies will also start their services and provide cheap alternatives.
You are Comparing Apples with cars.
Paypal is not the only option in world, People will be open to Online transcations when they are easy with Tap and Pay system.
Currently Paypal have updated its polticies so lets say
if i sell you something, they will charge me and you both a small price - ok nothing wrong with that
but lets say if you refund you that they will return you the money back but seller will still be charged
how does that affect sellers ?.

Why No major change has been made by banks in last 5 years ?.
Problem is Pakistani companies dont want to spend money on infrastucture.
1 Bank will need to upgrade their banking system bring it to 21st Century
2 Major investment in IT & Security , & Infrastucture
3 Why no one of the major banks has created a fully working system its not that hard and paypal isnt the only company which can do this

*sigh* I had hopes of Paypal considering Pakistan the last time.. Since that didn't work I ended up opening a company in the USA and the UK. Now I have partners in my business I didn't need or want.. although the bright side is that their barkhat will be tied to mine!

I dont think the issue is related to matter of convincing PayPal. The underline issues are legal, money laundering including FATF. Unless these are addressed paypal wont come period - repeating the mantra that our entrepreneurs are losing money etc. wont change anything if we don't address the specific financial and legal issues.
And before cursing paypal please ask this question as a nation - why do we have this honor of not having paypal along with Afghanistan and North Korea , where as even countries like Nigeria, Somalia and Yemen have managed to have PayPal.

to people calling paypal obsolete and useless, Paypal is not for you, paypal is for someone who works online and there is no way he/she can receive money from a client who is based in USA/UK/AU/EU. And Pakistan is in top 5 rapidly growing freelance markets.

Not only that, with paypal, money can be received by selling local goods internationally and believe me there is great potential.

And we also need a card payment gateway like Stripe in Pakistan.

Even Aliexpress started accepting paypal. Imagine Daraz.pk with paypal and international shipping option.

They will not come until FATF issue is resolved

At least the groundwork can be carried out in anticipation of resolving the FATF issue, so that services can be started soon thereafter.

Had to send a gift to my sister in Malaysia. My Canadian credit card kept getting rejected on the Malaysian gifting website since they couldn't understand the difference in shipping/billing addresses. Next option was to use PayPal. Within seconds the order was approved and placed and I received confirmation email. PayPal is BIG sahulat, unfortunately we are missing out on it.

Need to work on war footing to meet all the requirements of getting PayPal to come to Pakistan. It will severely aid our freelancer community as well as small businesses who want to sell abroad.

People here said that grey listing in FATF will have no effect.
