Ending a nearly week-long confusion over Pakistan's placement on a ‘grey list’ of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the Foreign Office confirmed on Wednesday that the country is set to be added to the watchlist of countries where terrorist outfits are still allowed to raise funds in June.

Speaking at a weekly news briefing, FO spokesman Dr Muhammad Faisal revealed that a decision to place Pakistan on the watchlist was taken at the FATF plenary held in Paris last week. He, however, ruled out the possibility that Pakistan could even be placed on the international watchdog's blacklist over a lack of compliance.

"Pakistan will be placed on the [FATF] 'grey list' in June, but there is currently no chance of [its] placement on the blacklist," the spokesman said, adding that Pakistan will cooperate with FATF in every possible way.

An action plan to eradicate terrorist financing is being prepared and will accordingly be shared with the international body, he said.

According to Dr Faisal, the FATF has asked Pakistan to take additional steps to curb money laundering and terror financing.

He said Pakistan has already taken steps to remove the deficiencies in these areas and cited the presidential ordinance that was quietly passed days before the FATF plenary to amend the anti-terror legislation in order to include all UN-listed individuals and groups in the national listings of proscribed outfits and persons.

All matters related to FATF will be dealt with by the finance ministry, the FO spokesman said, adding that all matters relating to the terror financing issue except for press releases are of a "sensitive nature".

Grey list doesn't matters. We all know more than the merit, its politics behind the scene. No country will give a f**K to bring any country's name in the list if US remains silent. Also if second voting happened this time around than why not another voting can happen in June to remove Pakistan name from any list. I think Pakistan will try to do that through China.

It is impossible for pakistan to act against every terrorist network those are mentioned as terrorist at UN. Come on guys give a break.

Pakistan has been sincerely successfully eradicating terrorism and inshallah would be succesed by her own strategy not by some patethic imposed strategy and mindset by the west.

Pakistan should emphasize and clear infront of world that whatever pakistan already has done in other countires of the world to create peace just because of pakistan own strategy and if US and any other nation really want us to eradicate terrorism then let us handle it with our own way/strategy and supports us but in the mean while if india or US interfare or create hurdles, conspiracy or proxies then dont blame us in future. It will be the final chance not only for pakistan but also for india, so dont be hypocrite or backstabber otherwise both will definatly have to suffer badly in next decades because of terrorisum (ISIS, alquida or any other terrorirst organizations). and i can assure you now that india cant handle this if pakistan fails.

Our strategy is
slow and steady wins the race against terrorisum.

A big middle finger shown to everyone who voted against Pakistan. There is nothing you can do by placing us on any list.

At the end of the day, you will come begging to do more. We know the drill.

This is just mind blowing!. Where do the sponsors of the Zionist, wahabbi regimes, Taliban, Alqaeda and ISIS get the morality to place any other country on a terror watch?............lol

What a fukking joke!

What's the difference ???

Countries on greylist (watch list) have additional compliance checks on global/international banking transactions. They create overheads but otherwise are no issue.

Countries on blacklist are denied international banking transactions by many international financial institutes thereby creating a major block on transactions and growth.

the mofo tooi gov won't be in power then!

You can actually thank the PPP Government as they never bothered to get Indian resolution on JuD and HS to be VETO'd by China in 2009. Had they done that, we wouldn't even be bothered by this BS today........or atleast the US would have had to come up with some other creative way to get us on the greylist.
