Gorkhaland supporters hold protest in Hague

Time to split West Bengal. Gorkhalanders are sane enough to not use Teesta for cheap politics and we may see the Teesta Pact to be signed soon.

Gorkhaland will not share a border with Bangladesh to have a leverage over Teesta water sharing pact.

Gorkhaland will get Siliguri so obviously they will have a border with Bangladesh, however, Jalpaiguri where Teesta enters Bangladesh is excluded from their proposed map. I wonder what would happen to Jalpaiguri and Cooch Bihar since they will be effectively severed from West Bengal?

EDIT: I can see there is a proposal to form another state with Jalpaiguri and Cooch Bihar called "Kamtapur"

Though you're right that they have included Siliguri in their proposed map, but the demographics of Siliguri is inherently against the formation of Gorkhaland as they are predominantly bengalis. So in practical application, if Gorkhaland forms, their boundary will be limited to 'Sukna'.

There are plans for recognizing Siliguri as a district in near future. And Kapmtapur movement has fizzled out and was located to only Coochbehar to most part.

Wouldn't it be more logical to protest in India if you want to create a state within India, you protest in the Hague if you want to create a new country, Hague is the capital for these kinda issues, human rights tribunal what not.

Because that is how dirty Indian politics work in India.

This is not the first and won't be last either.

Gorkhaland state demand has full support of Modi government at the center who wants to weaken the West Bengal's TMC state government. Protesting outside India would embarrass and put more pressure on Cheif Minister Mamata to agree and pass a resolution in the state assembly for the creation of the new state of Gorkhaland.
