Gorkha Regiment Among Worlds best elite military units

. . .
.
Among history of 3000 years they think US Navy SEALs are the best! Even so called Green Beret , British SAS!

They are totally biased. The forgot the bravery and skills of the Sikhs , Rajput, Huns, Spartans.

300 Spartans could destroy 2,600,000 Persians in the Battle of Thermopylae, with swords and spears. Now, imagine Spartans having Javelin Anti-tank missiles, Dragunov snipers, MP5 sub machine guns and a couple of stealth choppers. What havoc they would have created.

That battle is completely exaggerated. Persians were always kicking Greek , not the other way round

Following India's 1947 independence from Britain, several Gurkha regiments remained loyal to the crown. They have fought in the Falklands War, the Gulf War, with NATO, in Iraq and in Afghanistan, and they've been on U.N. peacekeeping missions to Bosnia. To this day, no proper Gurkha solider is without his age-old kukri, a curved dagger that these martial people have wielded for generations.

Slave & master relationship !

Slave & master relationship !

Those were the Gurkhas of Nepal who were naturalized British citizens.

And the word used there is Loyalty.

p.s.: whats up with the pathetic flame baits ?

This seems to be a rather sensationalised and poorly researched article in repines to the recent hit on OBL. the writer clearly has no military understanding- how can you compare Special Forces (SAS/SEALS/GREEN BERETS) to light infantry (Gurkhas) and ancient army units (Immortals)? Answer- there IS NO COMPARISON as they all have very different roles, training, operational expertise, equipment etc it seems like someone has been watching too much 300 and other war films.

Also why is the Gurkhas mentioned and not the Punjab, Rajput, Sikh and Sikh Li regiments? The Sikh regiment is the most decorated in the ENTIRE Indian army and are valued the world over for their valour, honour, skill and fierceness. What measure is this writer using? If Gurkhas are on the list the above regiments, and especially the Sikh, deserve to be on the list if not higher. As they are not shows this writer has no clue what he is talking about and has spent about 5 mins collating the list.

That 300 number is epic tale but no doubt Spartans were one of the best warriors of all time. But do not forget bravery and skills of Sikh , Rajput and Maratha against much larger armies.

Maybe, but the Persians always had a bigger and stronger Army than the Greeks. But the Greeks managed to somehow keep them in their den.
