Good news for China. Coal is about to get really cheap as western countries shut coal plants.

Coal is already the cheapest way to make electricity in China. With UK and Germany and Canada and Australia shuttling their coal plants by the 2030s, China's supply will sky rocket while China's demand will plummet with ultra supercritical coal plants efficiency at 45% on par with combined cycle gas plants and use very littl coal to make the same amount of electricity. That means as electricity rates sky rocket in western countries, China's electricity rates will plummet and make China competitive against western countries and by 2030s Geely will be able to invest in a controlling stake in Daimler up from 10% today.

If Australia is going to ditch coal what is our alternative???

Nothing. High electricity rates. There hasn't been a single car made in Australia since 2017.

I suggest Nuclear power but a lot of people in Australia are batshit scared of nuclear power due to meltdowns and the waste it produces.

Well to be honest the auto industry in Australia was already dying anyway due to other car brands coming in and the failure of Holden and Ford to react to the competition.

Its not like Australia was making its own car when both Holden and Ford are owned by the Americans. Holden only imports cars from GM then slaps its badges on it.

The famous Holden Commodore is basically an Opel.

Australia is pretty much finished off as it is. Next, China will finish off Canada. Already, this year GM's Oshawa plant will close, ending a third of Canada's auto industry. 21st century is China's century. Anglo countries go kick the bucket.
