It is not just money, it is fear and mistrust. Most Pakistanis are poor and don't have any property or money, they still marry their first cousins. They live in a country where no one trusts anyone. The Burkhas, the huge compounds, the guns in home, the first cousin marriages all points to a society in shackles and immobilised by fear.

It would also require being humble and amiable and friendly to the rest of the society which they can't be because each Pakistani is an army general with ego higher than minar-e-pakistan. In such a situation, they have settled on a compromise where each family is an island and only reliant on extended family members and having minimal contact with non-family. That is the only option they have given their attitude to avoid mass scale bloodshed.
