Go Bankrupt, Air Force Style

1) the twice the cost of rafale/EF compare to Gripen do not justify the deal , Gripen has rejected on radar when both Gripen and EF going to get the same radar from the same company......
2) in past also IAF has rejected sewdist fighter and picked Jaguare ,...and jagure became the white elephent in IAF...

somewhere the IAF has a foult which few are reluctent to address..

Check out the replies before you. The radars are NOT the same. EF has a much more powerful and capable radar in the works. And jags are the only deep penetration strike/interdiction aircrafts in the IAF's inventory.

The Jaguar is a trainer turned strike aircraft. It is by no means a white elephant. Its handling capabilities allows it to be one of the best SEAD aircrafts in the game.

WELL LCA is not meant for ground attack roles
It will mainly Replace Mig21 Bison in Point Defence Role , while Navy might use it for Fleet Air Defence

Of course it is, because it is a multi role combat aircraft and don't forget that the litening targeting pod was one of the first techs that was integrate, just like that it did weapon trials with dumb bombs earlier this year and with laser guided bombs only recently. It is even planned to integrate some Russian A2G missiles later, so A2G at least in CAS roles will be important for LCA as well, actually LCA tested more A2G weapons yet than A2A weapons!
However, like the pics shows, it already is able to provide the same strike power that made the Mirage 2000s and Jags famous during Kargil war, but that will only be the minimum strike power of the future IAF fleet, with MMRCA, upgraded MKI and in future, armed UAVs, FGFA/AURA UCAV.

LOL...Entire thread is not with the author (against Gripen)....So why we discuss any further as it is several other threads discussing Rafale and Eurofighter...Maybe author wants to give one final try... :yahoo:

Stupid article written by some dis-grunteled Gripen enthusiast who is sad his favourite didn't make the cut for IAF.

valid points, if you are an idiot! Comparing the light-weight, low cost Gripen to the high cost air superiority fighter EFT. suppose it is IAF's/MoD's fault for letting such a wide range of a/c compete for its "M"-MRCA.

Seconded.Although I think it was a mistake to opt for MIG-29K rather than the Sea Gripen project considering usability, deployment in large numbers and maintenance costs for the Indian Navy. The tender is still up for grabs for future carriers of India, let's hope that the establishment favors the Swedes on this one.

Mig 29K was a combined deal with the Gorshkov carrier, so IN had no other option anyway and even if, Sea Gripen isn't on for the same reasons why IAF don't need it, because they get LCA!
IN didn't even sent the RFI for new carrier fighters to SAAB, they asked later to join, because all other MMRCA manufacturers were in too, that's why IN was so generous to accept them and were ready for some presentation. Realistically, the Sea Gripen has ZERO chances, because o numerous reasons:

- N-LCA is in the same class, with similar techs and capablilities and imo as limited as a carier fighter like the Sea Gripen
- it is even less developed than the N-LCA which at least is available as a demonstrator version today and soon will make it's first flight. Saab on the other side has not even a final prototype of the Gripen E/F, let alone a naval version based on it.
- Saab has no experience with re-designing a carrier fighter, which is the reason why they asked the UK for help on this, which once again shows, that they are as dependent on foreign countries like we are.
- because no other country has interest in the Sea Gripen and all development and later upgrade costs would be diverted to India alone, just like it will be the case for the naval typhoon.

...

All the Gripen E/F or Sea Gripen would offer to India, are a bit more performance and some more weapons than LCA, so why should we pay for a foreign fighter development then? Simply not needed and the only chance today for a Gripen deal is Brazil and even that is very small today.
