The 7th Pay Commission has batted for granting "martyr" status to personnel of central paramilitary forces, on the lines of armed forces.

"The Commission is of the view that in case of death in the line of duty, the force personnel of Central Armed Police Forces should be accorded martyr status, at par with the defence forces personnel," the recommendations submitted by the Commission today said.

The report was submitted today to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

Associations of retired paramilitary forces and those serving have time and again said that they should be accorded such a status.

its not the Martyr status but the benefit of the martyr family if he laid his life during the line of duty.
I fully support CRPF should be given more privilege, because they are the one who are getting the highest causality rate in J&K, also, they are posted in remote areas and whole part of the country. 7th Pay commission recommendation includes the Pension, which is equal to the full Salary of the of the personal to his family, and the lump some money which is paid after his death.

When we talk of the ARMY, the army personal gets various benifits, like Canteen Facility, Family Quaters, Liquor facility, elevated salary when deployed in risky and remote areas, and KVs Schools for their families, MCO facilities in Railway tickets. But when compare to CRPF, they too are not confined to a state, and could be posted from J&K to Andaman and Nicobar Island, but they don't have that facilities. Also, when a personal got Martyr, his family will get the normal Pesion, that is the Point. Hope this will clear all the doubts.

Ignore the trolls here. In this case India uses the term to mean death in the line of duty....and these paramilitaries should be given the exact same compensation as the official military.
