There was peace in J&K till 1989. Then, the Afghan war ended, and those unemployed jihadis attacked Kashmir, and turned a beautiful paradise into a hellhole. It was logical that the Indian Army would fight back. Even today, 9 out of 10 terrorists killed in Kashmir are non-locals.
