LAHORE: The relationship between a mother and daughter turned sour when a girl physically attacked her mother after contracting a freewill marriage.

The incident took place outside the Lahore High Court when a woman came to meet her daughter before the court proceedings. Instead, the girl turned a lifetime worth of upbringing and care by slapping her mother in broad daylight.

The people present around stopped them from the scuffle, but could not fathom that a disobedient daughter could assault her own parents. They court premises turned into a battleground as both scuffled until they were separated.

Although the state and religion allow freedom of marriage among consenting adults, but the incident shows the moral decay now prevalent in our society and the degradation of norms and traditions.

A lawyer speaking to ARY News said that children will treat their parents as per their upbringing. Therefore, she said that the parents are also to be blamed for the incident.

Others decried the incident terming it rather shameful and said that freewill marriages should be conducted after mutual consultation of the elders or village council, which will help reduce such incidents in the future.

totally agree with you on that bro.that the first issue but there is another issue at play here
what are your views on a mom who drag her own daughter to the court for a thing that is girls legal and Islamic right.
my view on this is that two wrongs don't make a right.

neither i am justifying her actions.what she did was wrong and is not justifiable.this the comment on first part we all agree on it.
now coming to the second part is it justifiable to drag your own kid to the court because she did with her life what she wanted.
there are two wrongs that are being done here and i am trying to discuss these both separately.let me be clear again i am not trying to justify the slap in any way.

Both are wrong but hitting your mother in public is worse

Wow...we were taught to respect our teachers as our parents and nowadays our generation has no respect for parents let alone teachers

The whole story presents a very scary picture of our society where moral degradation and selfishness is reaching peak levels.

Dragging her daughter to the court instead of resolving the issue with dialogue serves no purpose as the courts can't announce the annulment of marriage contract and will just invite more spectators. While on the other side, hitting mother in broad daylight shows the lack of respect by the daughter towards her mother.

Its a sad fact in our society that parents are not training their children to be respectful and understanding and the problem is much more aggravated due to the lack of time parents have in order to train their children. What is shown on electronic media is just making the youth more and more disrespectful to the elders whether in the form of teachers or parents.

If this is not moral annihilation then i don't know what is (compared to the moral standards of our society and culture).
