Seems very reminiscent of Arab Spring. Military will be kicked out for now(if Imran comes into power), but will eventually make a comeback. Imran is a populist, and these type of leader are not good for economy, eventually the economy will make people trust army again to make a comeback of some sort!!

The question is who are the foreign supporters of Imran Khan and PTI and what is their long term agenda other than the downsizing and leashing of Pakistan army ? If we extrapolate the organised anti-Pakistan army propaganda within PDF to Pakistan beyond then yes there are very organised forces working to weaken Pakistan army well beyond the Indians. Hopefully Pakistan army will come out stronger and the country awakes from the direction that it is being cleverly pushed by the corrupts over the cliff. There is no other way of taming this monster. The generals won't reform by themselves. This is a struggle that has been ongoing for years. This had to happen. It was inevitable at some point and time. The Pakistani army needs to understand that time has come to part ways with political interference. The civilian rulers need full powers to perform their duties. Yes, there is every chance of ugly corrupt actors hijacking the system. In fact this will happen. The army intervening is not the solution. We can't have the generals interfere anymore. Let the civilian rulers figure it out. Eventually a system will be figured out.

In the West there is division between church and state. In Pakistan there needs to be a strict division between army and state.
