It a big project and it demands all that attention and concentration.Pakistan duly needs to go all out on this.
The stakes of more than one country are involved here. And especially the landlocked countries can benefit out of it.
First, it's very certain that it's going to be a success. And second is it being fruitful will prove that all that attention and concentration was justified.
I respectfully disagree....It is not going to consume all your resources and is certainly not the end of world...neither a single project can changes the fortune of a country....it is always muti-dimensional effort....regarding attention to CPEC then plz tell who is talking about it more than Pakistan herself?? Anyways your country your rules...

Afghan traders will lose their business in which they import stuff for Afghanistan and smuggle it back to Pakistan. Any thing imported through Iran or somewhere else will not be able to compete with Pakistani local stuff or imported through legal means. So no real problems but surly Pakistan will also suffer a little.

it's a tit for tat, no hard feelings
The 'tit for tat' is in fact the Pakistani closure of the border in response to provocations from the Afghan side, such as unprovoked firing from Afghan security forces and violent demonstrations that damage Pakistani infrastructure and harm Pakistani civilians and security forces.

If Ghani could actually exercise control over the NDS and Afghan security forces then there wouldnt be any need for border closures on the Pakistani side.

Article here, excerpts below:

...

The Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has warned to close transit route for Pakistan to Central Asian countries as the Wagah port has been closed for the Afghan traders for import and export.

President Ghani made the remarks during a meeting with the UK’s special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan Owen Jenkins in Kabul.

He said Afghanistan is no more a landlocked country as several other options and transit routes are available for Afghanistan for the import and export of commodities of the Afghan traders.

President Ghani further added that Pakistan usually closes transit routes during the fruits season which incurs millions in dollars loses to the Afghan traders.

We beg you..please use the alternate route and prove its efficiency...Iranians will milk you dry!
Karzai cannot be an Indian lap dog and give statements on Pashtunistan then expect us to accord him favours..
We need to impose 200% tax on Afghan transit trade and called it CPEC toll!

Make sense, not sure how economically viable it will be though.
So in short you and I will continue to block traffic for each and other use other routes to do business.

My dear A- team who will suffer then? :) . Afghanistan does not have the capability to go toe to toe with Pakistan on this tit for tat policy . We have much more leverage on you . Playing mind games is one of the many things that Pakistani's excel at:) . You can ask the american's and the indian's:D .

If we go down that route there will be shortage of things like food , cement , steel and what not in Afghanistan .

I think Pakistan is already sending those Afghans back which is a good thing I would say.
Let us forget about ISAF as it no longer exist, I wonder how you respond being an American ( your ally Afghanistan) who is being imposed a war through foreign proxies, the same proxies that have killed American soldiers.

Where are your loyalties?

My next door neighbor is a prick. Full on speakers during parties, beer bottles and cups after liter his yard after... But I deal with it cause he picks up after and always lets the neighbors know before so we can leave. The neighborhood deals with it cause he's a nice guy who'll mow your lawn if you're busy, without asking.

The point i'm making is he's my next door neighbor, and whether I like him or not he's a fact. He's not moving out, neither will I.

My loyalties lay with common sense.

The NATO forces still need to be resupplied. Air transport to Uzbekistan is expensive. The sanctions on Russia block the land route from the north. The only option is Pakistan, President Ghani is welcome to pass his threats, but unless he wants to be slapped behind closed doors he'll tone it down.

It was your government that allowed the Taliban to set up shop in Doha.
It's your government that isn't setting up blocking forces when Pakistan carries the State's writ in it's territory.
Your government that doesn't have control outside the cities... I dont have time to continue this list.

Neither Pakistan nor Afghanistan are going to gain cooperation by threatening the other.

All the while, the Taliban are marching to take over the capital of Oruzgan. You don't have control of over 135 miles into Afghanistan from the Internationally Recognized Afghan-Pakistan border....

Both Pakistan and Afghanistan are young nations (yes I said young nations), hopefully they too will recognize honey is better than salt.

Realpolitik in play :)

Lots of negative emotions in ur post my friend, it's a tit for tat, no hard feelings ;)
Karachi and port wasin s available for afgans..Pak has concerns with Indian link up ..even we hv same issue with India ,u are even welcome in gawader but don't then u can use chahbar or any other route we don't have problem with that... may be economical stable and educated Afghanistan play good role to its neighbours..gud luck

All out is in terms of the effort. No all the resources actually. It doesn't need them either. It's meant to build us gradually and not exhaust us.I'm glad that the GoP so far has shown the full commitment in this regard.
Regarding the question, it's the country which is investing on it and the country where it's bringing in it's revolution. One must know that it's a budding process in it's initial stages. The more the people (countries) get associated with it the more they "talk" about it.It's simple. One sees an opportunity to gain some advantage out of it then, i don't understand why will one not bother to join it.

Nice one...Mr. Ghani....Many Pakistanis also didn't want in first place that you become our trade route for CARs....Pakistanis will never want to become dependent on India and Afghanistan for anything ....
depending upon china for everything ...
