The Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has warned to close transit route for Pakistan to Central Asian countries as the Wagah port has been closed for the Afghan traders for import and export.

President Ghani made the remarks during a meeting with the UK’s special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan Owen Jenkins in Kabul.

He said Afghanistan is no more a landlocked country as several other options and transit routes are available for Afghanistan for the import and export of commodities of the Afghan traders.

President Ghani further added that Pakistan usually closes transit routes during the fruits season which incurs millions in dollars loses to the Afghan traders.

Realpolitik in play :)

Do it and then phuck off

Lots of negative emotions in ur post my friend, it's a tit for tat, no hard feelings ;)

We already have a better alternate route filled with modern facilities and a open market via Kashgar.

The transit route is mostly used by local traders - if it is cut off; it won't make much of a difference for us.

Meanwhile we basically control the Afghan economy.

Good move by President Ghani...This is how the head of state speaks for his people.

I think you had a lot influence on the Afghan economy but I think that hold is slowly being released as Afghanistan finds alternative routes but of course Afghanistan as a landlocked country will always have its neighbours to deal with it but with Asrhaf Ghani posturing now, I think he is onto something.

bus aik bar CPEC ban jany de bate ghani we will teach you how to close ;)

Not sure how CPEC has anything to do with Afghan closing a route, besides CPEC is part of the bigger Chinese OBAR vision so it's not your call alone?

I think China has Veto on this, isnt it ?

honestly all eggs in one basket is not a good thing....

CPEC is no doubt a big project by China and inline with OBAR vision, and with Chinese Train reaching Afghanistan last week, I don't know how our friends in Pakistan are threatening us with that :P

Well he is just keeping it real without any emotions, he is like you don't allow me to egress via Pakistan, I will return the favor. If it hurts Afghanistan a lot then he will change course but I think he is upto something and he probably knows that Pakistani routes are not that critical as they used to be.

who need to go afghanistan after CPEC done we will go throw china to centeral asia

CPEC gives us a route to Central Asia through China.

Ok that makes sense, though how economically viable is another question.
But the again CPEC based on OBAR is bound to connect to Afghanistan.
