Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa endorses the punishment of two senior ex-Army officers and one civil officer who is a PhD. employed at a sensitive defense facility.

The officers have been tried under the Pakistan Army Act (PAA) and Official Secret Act by separate Field General Court Martial (FGCM) for separate cases. ex-Lt. General Javed Iqbal has been awarded 14 years rigorous punishment whereas death sentence is awarded to ex-Brigadier Raja Rizwan and Doctor Wasim Akram.

According to ISPR statement no. PR-112/2019-ISPR dated May 30, 2019, "General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) endorsed punishment to two Army and one civil officer on the charges of espionage/ leakage of sensitive information to foreign agencies prejudice to the national security.
