Germany to informally ban Huawei from 5G network

China will not mess with German trade - not going to happen. It will hurt China just as much.

They didn't seem to think so when they messed with Huawei, a company with revenue that's actually a significant proportion of German GDP and has a more irreplaceable and IP intensive product.

Only a year ago the Chinese Brigade were cheering how Huawei was taking over Europe and the world. Oh how the tables have turned this year. Huawei is now slowly being crushed.

Huawei revenue up 13%

US GDP down 32%

If Huawei is slowly being crushed, what's happening to the US?

I thought you said Huawei is just an arm of the Chinese government, why does a few billion here and there matter when the Chinese government could lend them 15 trillion if they wanted to?

Regardless there is undeniable mutual benefit from trade to both parties. Neither can escape from escalation unhurt. We have Trump and his misguided notion of being 'The king' of deal but Merkel is far more reasonable. Well I hope better sense prevails. Germans aren't egotistical people but practical to a fault, they will not be bullied so this calls for subtle handling.

Xi Jinping isn't Trump.

Trump is bombastic and has low social skills but makes up for it with money. Xi rose in a system where knowing how to navigate the social currents is almost life or death.

Well China is on the offensive on many fronts at this moment. Does Xi want to add Europe and Germany to his cup of woes? Merkel is trying to be subtle with the Huawei exclusion giving Xi political room to maneuver domestically. The ball is in Xi's court he can react in kind, with the introduction of subtle exclusions for German businesses or he can respond more aggressively to reinforce a tough guy domestic image. Merkel was politically savvy to leave Xi both options.

Xi is unlikely to have an aggressive response. He doesn't need to appease the public directly, only the central committee.

Instead, German car sales are likely to get hit by new gas vehicle environmental restrictions which are unrelated but an interesting case of karma where one country fails to keep up with the times.

Like I said before, let us hope it does not escalate into a massive three way trade war and real world folks get badly hurt.

I hope I don't get accused of being German-now that I spoke for German interests.:coffee:

Offensive??? I think it is a wrong choice of words.
I think the right word is defensive.

Being offensive is when they send a foreign minister like USA Secretary of State to threaten or belittle other independent nations.
It is either USA or us?

China has so far observe all the ground rules.

Trump badmouth China at the UN while President Xi spoke of multilateralism.
In fact he was given standing ovation by UN members unlike Trump USA who is feeling rather isolated nowadays.

Folks should stop listening to Trump lies.

BTW if China favour purchase from one nation over another, that is their right.
That is not considered as offensive.
Some may deemed it as offensive but isn't it true one would rather purchase from a friend.
But it is true some of these nations have indeed offended China. :coffee: :sarcastic:

The Chinese and German have in fact a lot in common.
They shared a lot of similar traits e.g. work ethics, etc.
However it is the politicians that have succeeded in poisoning the minds of ignorant masses.
That is why Germany must allowed Huawei 5G telecommunication bid to be open in order for them to maintain their independence.
US and the 5 eyes Anglo-Saxon nation will used psychometric to influence the masses to riot to oust capable leaders that are not folloing US scripts.
Ever heard of Strategic Communication Laboratory in USA or Cambridge Analytica.
They have been collecting raw data thru' Google, facebook, Amazon cloud, etc and analysing their data to incite the population.
That was how Trump won his last election.
That is why they are worried about Tik Tok or WeChat. That is why they make unsubstantiated allegation against China.
Trump USA is guilty of all of these accusations. Wuhan viruses came ffom Fort Detrick Biological Warfare laboratory and Trump called it China Virus. It is part of the program of mass brainwashing.
That is why they attack WHO and quited WHO.
So that WHO investigators cannot entered USA to inspect Fort Detrick where the original. Leaks occurred.
That is a thief mental mindset.

Offensive??? I think it is a wrong choice of words.

Well China's diplomates have been on the offensive in Europe, Australia and Canada.
Did you forget the chewing gum remark?

In fact I see the traits of pyschometrics in many of the posters in here especially their accusations and unsubstantiated allegations.

They all happily point their finger at China but never read the news that are affecting them directly such as this.

The hidden hands of the imperialistists are everywhere and we as Asians should be on guard. Look at this news.

Canada kidnapped Huawei CFO from a transit lounge on a Saturday when it was a rest day for the Judges.
Did she commit any crime in Canada but Canada in coercion with USA and based on a warrant issued by the unconstitutional US FISA.
Do you know how a FISA court Works?
So if we follows WTO ruling on USA in favour of EU over subsidies to Boeing, such defensive actions are ruled as reasonable by the Judges.

So if China retaliatory actions are considered as offensive.
Who started the rows? Who started the Trade War?

China? Don't behave and act naive.

How about a hypothetical situation where USA fired its missiles at Russia and any Russia retaliation is now deemed as offensive. That is illogical and Western News Media biases.

IMO China action in SCS is considered as defensive. USN warships sailed halfway round the world to provoke China and called it Freedom of Navigation sailing on the edge of their sea-border.
There have never been a single report of incidences of hijacking or boarding of any maritime vessels by Chinese Naval vessel so far. But not in the case of USN.

By offensive I did not mean "to give offense".

diplomatic offensive planned set of actions intended to influence a lot of people

This fight will be a good illustration what Western nation try to do to an inexperienced China and got knocked out instead. Choking the opponent but got choked instead.
:sarcastic: :sarcastic: :sarcastic:
