The point is that there clearly are parts in the scriptures that drive a lot of people to extreme violence, it's a very direct link, spl considering that their justification for the extreme violence, are the violent bits in those very same texts. Their motivation is clear, why is everyone trying to deny it ?Will you be comfortable if I explain the same scriptures the way I understand them? Would you accept my explanation too as you believe in their's?
For instance and related to your mentioning of Jihad and then the word violence
Here are two consecutive verses from Quran (22:39 & 22:40) (you can google yourself and read the translation)
The background of these verses is grant of permission to Muslims to fight (22:39) and fight for what (22:40)
"Permission [to fight] has been given to those who are being fought, because they were wronged. And indeed, Allah is competent to give them victory." 22:39
"[They are] those who have been evicted from their homes without right - only because they say, "Our Lord is Allah ." And were it not that Allah checks the people, some by means of others, there would have been demolished monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which the name of Allah is much mentioned. And Allah will surely support those who support Him. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might." 22:40
Muslim army fighting not only to defend themselves but to protect monasteries, churches, synagogues and mosques. Do you see any discrimination?
The problem is you are accepting whatever is being fed to you without even bothering to confirm it. For example Jihad is now used in a very negative sense .......... and most of the people who use it that way, are not even 1% familiar with its meaning ..... all they know is "Kital" and they keep confusing it with Jihad .... which (Kital) by the way happens to be a part of overall Jihad concept ...... that too with lots of restrictions ......... as you may see in above mentioned verses.
So my friend I believe in the scriptures you are referring to .......... I understand what is written there. As I said I don't want to lecture you on Quran and what's written in there ....... but it would be fair if you could first check the source yourself before criticizing it.
To conclude, I'll repeat, the fact there there are a lot of call to violence bits and references to the filthy Jews and polytheists etc in the texts is not an indictment of all who practice the faith. I agree that #notallmuslims, nobody is arguing that all muslims...
also, this thread is past it's expiry date, no point getting into the weeds and debating endlessly.
