The German Navy Chief Andreas Krause was in Qingdao in the last few days to join the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the China PLA Navy. During his visit, he asks his escort PLA officer: how many new ships the PLA Navy will get this year?

The answer he got: "I don't know ... a dozen or so"

Dozen is no longer just the unit for beer or eggs, it could also be used as the unit for navy ships building.

PLA officer must be trying to make an understatement.
of course that's an understatement. It's end of April now, still eight months ahead. But we've already observed the commissioning of the following ships:
- Type 055: Nanchang
- Type 052D: Guiyang, Hohhot
- Type 054A: Zaozhuang, Nantong
- Type 901 Fast Combat Support Ship: Chagan Hu
- Type 071 LPD: Wuzhi Shan

That's seven ships already. We could expect at least one another 052D (Chengdu) to be commissioned in the later 2019. Adding submarines (nuclear and conventional), and other smaller support vessels, "one dozen new ships" to enter the PLA Navy service is a very humble answer.

China is good example of being humble and increasing military might side by side , they don't brag , they walk the talk ....

. .
PLAN will be too big near future .they may need to separate commands like USN

Nice, that's more than the ships of the indian navy and vietnamese navy combined.

Great job. Do Chinese open a new thread every time China induct a new ship, like the Supa Powa Indians?

Nice, that's more than the ships of the indian navy and vietnamese navy combined.

But Indians open more threads on PDF per ship... I don’t believe Chinese open a new thread when China induct a new ship.
