German Muslims must obey law, not sharia: Merkel

I know that registering marriages is required in Pakistan (not something you would expect an indian to know, I guess :smokin: )

Anyway, there is one thing that I find very interesting. Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs; they all face similar conflicts when migrating to the western countries. But why are the Muslims very vehement regarding these conflicts as compared to the others? It seems to me that they attach far more importance to their religious teachings than the other two, when they are in conflict with the law of the land.
Did Merkel mention the word Hindu or Sikh's even for once? I know how Indian members are trying portray a picture of their assumptions with explicit endeavors to justify the German's stance to stigmatize Muslims for violating law, but, their real intentions don't seem as vague to us as you might think.
Again, German government has not mentioned any particular clause of Shariah being practiced in Germany which contended their national laws, It's seems to you like that because Muslims are devoted to their religion and that is not a crime if you are not violating any civil or national laws but that is some thing i wouldn't expect of you to understand...

You see, the problem with such debates is that some people don't understand the subtleties of complex arguments.

Where have I said that Muslims are breaking the civil or criminal law? I have said that they seem to have more problems and conflicts with the local laws than other communities. That does not mean that they are indulging in unlawful behaviour. Please understand the subtle differences and refrain from putting words into my mouth

.
Then why don't they also treat all citizens on equal grounds, why pin point Muslims only? Okay we get it, that they don't like Muslim women wearing head scarfs but what about Christian nuns? people wearing crucifix's? this is not jealousy these are double standards designed to target Muslims only. Has German government specified any particular incident where Muslims were practicing Shariah and were violating German laws? As for Polygamists, all i want to say is Americans have Polygamists as well, why didn't Merkel bother to include them while delivering her heads up speech?
so the problem is that merkel mentioned muslims?

it could be because they are the most visible community which is having problems in integration into the german society. simple as that. no need to assume mal-intent.

as for the polygamists in america, "they are in america". why would merkel comment on them? and as far as i know even in america a person can be only legally married to one other person. the courts wont consider the other spouses as legal.

she did not mention anything about headscarfs or the traditional caps that muslims wear. she was talking about the laws of the land and that the people there will have to follow them. the laws as they stand reflect the german way of thinking. no need to force religion into it.

Simple .. No one can stop you from practicing Shariah .. provided Shariah is implemented there. Every country and religion defends against other religions creeping in their society. When we can declare our holy cities to be infidel free what makes you condemn others from commenting rather than doing the exact same thing.

 or if you prefer :coffee:

Yes, it is illegal. I distinctly remember one leader of such sect being prosecuted and convicted on the charges of **** as well as polygamy.

No the problem with such debates is that certain people cannot relinquish any hunting ground to antagonize their rivals, even if they they have nothing substantial to back their vicious aspirations.
You didn't say but the drift of your innuendo is too obvious, like again you have said this
"I have said that they seem to have more problems and conflicts with the local laws than other communities"
But again, you fail to exemplify!!!! even any circumstantial evidence of your claims within the purview of Merkel's statement? Please don't let my stance muzzle you, you are free to put as much words in your mouth as you please....:coffee:

And how exactly are Muslims having problems in acclimatizing in German society? you have to present some factual grounds to erect your stance, frail arguments based on subjective judgments are just not gonna cut it.
As for polygamists in America, i know where they live that's why i quoted them but the point is few of them might go to Germany or may already be residents there, polygamists are not bound to Muslim culture only.
If she didn't mention the headscarf then what did she actually mean by asking Muslims to follow law? and why specifically Muslims? Merkel's statement has manifested that it is about "Religion" when she says Germany is about Christian & Jewish values & Muslims have to follow law depicting that they are the only ones under scrutiny

i agree they are not bound to islam only. however the example you took of amercan polygamists is flawed. even in american society polygamy is not condoned. its illegal in america and in germany. however there is comparatively little taboo related to polygamy in muslim countries.

when american polygamists migrate to germany, they too will have to follow the law of the land and polygamy will be considered illegal. same with a muslim polygamist. the point merkel was trying to make was that even if something against the laws of germany is condoned in some other country, no exception will be made on the name of religious freedom or secularism.

If she didn't mention the headscarf then what did she actually mean by asking Muslims to follow law?

are headscarfs the only thing that might clash with german laws? what about the practice of the time of namaz being announced on speakers by the local mosque. cant that be illegal under german law? this is just something i thought of from the top of my head. go study the german constitution and you might find some more.

and why specifically Muslims?
maybe because they are the most visible of the groups having trouble integrating. or maybe they are the most resistant to integration.

Sorry for the personal remarks, but if you put words in my mouth, then I am also free to question your intellectual capabilities.

Anyway, you are getting too heated. I am not saying that Muslims are violating the civil or criminal law. Or that they are demanding that Shariat laws be implemented for them. Although a few undoubtedly have that desire. I am saying that they are having more conflicts (wrong choice of word?) between their religion and the laws/customs of their new country. Everybody has this problem, but Muslims are having more. That is all that I am saying. And if you need examples for that, then I am sorry but you only need to google it. I am a regular reader of American, British, Pakistani and Chinese publications and I can find it everywhere.

Merkel might have been looking to gain poliitcal mileage. After all, didn't she honour the Danish cartoonists recently? And it is also true that right-wing parties everywhere are trying to milk the anti-Muslim feelings. But that doesn't change the reality of the conflicts.

How many women have seen in "Ghoonghat" on American or European streets recently? How many in burka/niqab?

What a crappy way to promote hate? I am not aware of the fact that Muslim of German are asking for Sharia law. She better get used to some of the Muslim way of living and dressing up the way we got used to MINI skirt and exposed clievages that christian brought to us. HECK more than a billion people follow Islam in this world. She better look around a bit.
