The only reason I would like GoI to consider this alternative provided by the Germans is , may this take another 2-3 years of negotiation time and finally GoI decides to scrape this MMRCA circus.
Original MMRCA was for 126 Mirage 2000 with 1999 & 2000 era's tech and according to test pilot of Tejas(ex-pilot of IAF), "Tejas mk1 in its current form is atleast better than upgraded Mirage", i.e. $26 million Tejas is better than $45million spent on upgrading Mirage 2000.
Rafale's cost is more than 5th gen fighters. It's engine is not good enough(grossly underpowered) to be used in any future development of IAF or IN.
Spectra is never been tested against any potential adversaries, thus it's performance is skeptical.
It's Aesa radar is yet to be tested with Meteor.
How come IAF allowed this fighter to enter into competition in 2007, when Aesa radar was still under testing phase and why such step motherly behavior with indigenous development. And recently IAF's vintage group come up with Vayu-Stratpost. The entire motive of it was to bash Tejas mk1 and support Rafale. These retired group, lied very badly in that discussion. They think common people still don't understand anything about defence and we will believe what ever thay will say. Whenever anyone tried to talk something good about Tejas, he was stopped and the topic was changed.
