I really don't understand. Why do we want a defense system for Leopard tanks from Germany? Why? Aselsan is already working on Active Protection systems.

That's what we need and Aselsan is ready to modernize our tanks.

NG upgrade uses armour kits from Rheinmetall as well.

They can change the supplier and should do it immediately.

May be that is why they want to restrict Turkish access to similar German technology!! So that this is not copied!

No. That is not the reason . Before in the 90's they restricted use of donated ex GDR BTR -60 s against PKK terrorists.
NATO members never copy or do reverse engineering, they prefer cooperation and licences. After 1974 Cyprus liberation USA made a political embargo. But we got most weapons needed from Norway and Sweden.

Btw. Germans has no hardkill solution ready. Even their most modern flagship IFV Puma has only multispectral soft kill measures onboard.

Do you believe Dutch would have to buy ISRAELI hardkill system, if Germans had ?

Thats why Rheinmetall is pushing the German government to buy and install them in Leo Tanks. Its easier to sell if a system is bought by at least the country the company comes from.

Why should Netherlands order IRON FIST ? Combat proven system .
