We're importing timber now.
Well it is temporary...once the trees are big, we will have our own timber supply....as long as people keep planting...over time you can cut some and replant some...Many countries in Scandinavia are doing so!

Someone should do a thread on sustainable tree farming & Mangrove plantation.

Research needs money...

In the west there is big money in research to study hardwood....its formation and genes involved in increasing its natural production...so playing with those genes will give you more hardwood per plant...

I'm in this sector at present and it is a very long process of regeneration and reforestation before harvesting.

The criminal butchering that happened in KP will take minimum 15 years before block harvesting can be started.

Or genetically modified trees that grow in half the time thay natural trees do. They can be farmed like other genetically modified plants, kept away from the natural population
