Geopolitics of ASEAN+ region

You want to talk about Vietnam?
It is stupid if think that a country was exhausted by Vietnam war like Vietnam in the 1970s could threaten other Asean countries.
We just had to take up arms to fight against the Khmer Rouge, after being attacked along the border during 1975-1978. They were brutally killed thousands of Vietnamese civilians living near the border.
We also helped Cambodian people escape from Khmer Rouge regime, an excellent pupil of Maoism, a savage genocide regime in human history, a Chinese ally.

Defend the Khmer Rouge was a most shameful of Chinese, as well as other countries, UN...
PM Hun Sen once said, Where were "powers" while Cambodians were killed by the Khmer Rouge genocide in many years? and only a poor friend Vietnam helped Cambodians people escape from the genocidal PolPot.

Where were your mouth powers during that years?

I can't disagree with you on removing Pol Pot, however did you government made that intention clear and had an understanding with China prior the invasion? After all Pol Pot was a Chinese ally and any attempts of remove him must go through China, if not China can only interpret the action as a hegemonic invasion.

Isn't Hun Sen a Vietnam installed figurehead?

Yes, Hun Sen is a Cambodian leader after Vietnam helped him to oust Pol Pot. The biggest difference between Hun Sen who was backed by VN, with Pol Pot who was backed by China, that is while Pol Pot killed nearly 3 millions of his compatriots, Hun Sen did not kill any his compatriots. Hun Sen once said,VN helped to liberate Cambodians and help revive Cambodia country, not invasion. Only the animals don't remember that.

It's really ashamed for the US, EU, UN, power countries of so-called "free world"... when they only sat to see nearly 3 million innocent Cambodian civilians were killed brutally by the Khmer Rouge. And the support genocidal Khmer Rouge regime of China is one of the biggest shame of Chinese.

You hate the wrong country here, Bro

Your leaders don't think so, they have actions seems contrary to your thinking. I must say that I always admired the leadership of Singapore, who is extremely smart. Evidence that they have agreed to Uncle Sam to deploy 4 warships the most modern highspeed in Singapore. And they said: Uncle Sam is indispensable...

Singapore is using the old Chinese stratagem of Pointing at the Mulberry but cursing the Locust tree.

Ok, lets say China is a cash cow for them, then they also view Vietnam as a hungry wolf, that's why nobody in ASEAN trusts you. :coffee:
Hehe, we're only wanna control and protect Malacca strait against China-US's threat , so we won't have to ally with bad guys like China or US like kalu_miah's suggestion

There no doubt Vietnam and her people have resilient strength and great determination and can go far if peace exist for duration.

Among China's objectives in 1979 was to stop Vietnam's westward expansion or at least that's how China perceived it at the time and the invasion did snub that ambition. Remember both Cambodia and Laos were failed states that can be easily took over by Vietnam. One can argue Vietnam did not leave Cambodia in 1979, but then she wouldn't know what actions China would be if she continued to occupy Cambodia. And besides Vietnam did achieve her intended goal of removing Pol Pot anyway so she withdrew.
Our troop never leave Laos-Camp, just changed its name from 'VietNam army' to "VN civilian", that's all.
2. The Socialist Republic of Vietnam government to withdraw the 60,000 Vietnamese soldiers from Laos. The Vietnamese government's plan to control its neighbouring countries is seen as a violation of Laos' national sovereignty and integrity as a nation.
This plan is believed to be in action as it is currently being carried out by the existing "puppet" Lao party leaders to the Hanoi government as noted in the paper presented at the National Conference in 2007 by Michael Mike, "Vietnam's Tay Tien expansion into Laos and Cambodia" , which outlined the neo-colonizing of Laos.

3/ Abolish the unfair of 25 year Treaty between Vietnam & Laos ( July 18, 1977 )
Article Five: The Two Sides Endeavor to Strengthen Militants, Solidarity Relations & Cooperation
Military, the 25 year Vietnamese - Laotian Treaty of July 18, 1977 allowed more then 500,000 Vietnamese civilians and family of the army to station in Laos. There were more than 100,000 Vietnam troops in December 1988.
In December 1988, the Communist Lao Government announced that all the Vietnam troops had withdrawn from Laos but in fact, there are still more than 60,000 Vietnamese troops in December 1990.
On 11 November 1995 Vietnam signed a new Treaty with Laos to further enhance this arrangement, under the name " Labour Exchange Agreement "

Under the term of Labour Exchange Agreement , Vietnam sent their soldiers to Laos in the disguise of ordinary labourers; these labourers had trucks of their own, in which they kept a wide variety of special weaponry for military action for any eventuality.

Malcca strait soon will fall into our hands:coffee:

China only wants the fair trade with ASEAN, while Vietnam dreams to conquer all ASEAN nations one by one.

Big difference here. :coffee:

Vietnam is member of ASEAN, China dreams to conquer all ASEAN.
There is different.
The southern part of Vietnam was originally the land of Khmers, hopefully more young Khmer nationalists could realize it in the future. :coffee:

Sothern parts of China was originally the lands of Yelang, Van Lang was country of Viet. Tibet Xidang belong to Tibetans, Xinjiang belong to Ujgurs, Inner Mongolia belong to Mongolia, Manchukuo belong to Manchus, etc.:smokin:

He, he. To be cool bro. we are Southern Vietnamese, Việt Thường peoples . We belong to same group of Viêt-Môn-Khmer peoples, as called Bai Yue in China. Ye Lang was ancient country of us.

Are you going to invade Malaysia or Indonesia for that to happen?
Why do we need to invade them when we can persuade Thailand or Myanmar to control Malacca with us ?? our ' Greater sub-Mekong nations''s plan is going well with great help from Japan now. a sub-Marine ambush in Thailand or Myanmar is enough to control Malacca strait.

If that's your grand plan please refer to it as something else other then "controlling the Malacca straits". For someone living in SEA you are really ignorant about the area.

Firstly the Malacca straits is so named because its a critical choke point in the shipping route between the city of Malacca (In Malaysia in case you are not aware) and Indonesia, it is strategic due to the narrow shipping lane hence making it easy for an ambush

(refer to maps)

The critical part of the straits is the narrow bit, trying to block the straits near Thailand is like trying to plug a leak in a broken dam.

Anyway your plan I am afraid is BS, I don't even see any Thai or Myanmar people supporting it.

STOP TALKING NONSENSE ABOUT THE MALACCA STRAITS, TRY TO THINK BEFORE YOU TYPE

Chinese TV discusses Vietnam's diplomacy on South China Sea issue

The 5 Aug 2011 edition of CCTV-4 "Focus Today", a 30-minute current affairs program broadcast daily at 1330-1400 gmt, features a discussion on the South China Sea situation following the latest moves by Vietnam and Philippines.

The program is hosted by Lu Jian and attended by Yin Zhuo, CCTV contributing commentator and military expert with rear admiral rank and Yang Xiyu, CCTV contributing commentator and a research fellow at the Chinese Institute of International Studies.

On the potential application of the Type 636 attack submarines and Su-30 MK2V multirole fighters in the SCS, Yin replies that the Type 636 attack submarines can be a major threat in the SCS. Yin adds that Vietnam has designated a submarine ambush zone in the Straits of Malacca for its tactical training. Yin says that the Straits of Malacca is a shipping lifeline of many countries including China, the United States, Japan and South Korea. "By designating a submarine ambush zone over there, it is to destroy the means of livelihood for everybody because it [Straits of Malacca] is everybody's lifeline," says Yin.

Btw: we can ambush China-US ships in SCS(east sea) too bcz we almost control all Spratly islands so, their ship must pass throught our EEZ

Do you have a link to support what he said? Also have you considered what Malaysia and Indonesia & Singapore's reaction to you passing military ships thru our waters? Any such ships need the permission of the countries it passes otherwise its deemed as a military incursion. Not to mention refueling etc.

If that's your strategy then I have no argument except its a very large ocean to ambush, firstly its not in our territory and secondly that's the most sensible proposal you have come up with because it actually makes more sense.
