What's new

General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) visited LOC at Chirikot and Bagsar Sectors

.
I know it's a weird question but we see Army chief standing at the forward posts what if an enemy sniper God forbid targets the chief ?
Is there any kind of rule within the two armies to not target senior officers like Brigadiers or Generals ?

No such rule but you usually have an idea how hot the sector is and if and when there is a likelihood of firing. But even if the sector is active with firing and there is a threat, it then becomes a personal call of the senior commander to go to the forward locations. I don't think such threats hold anyone back. Most officers have served along the LoC, they know the SoPs etc.
At a very basic level, if their troops are exposed to such firing, why would the commanders not be willing to risk it?

War seems imminent now. Pakistan is going on the offensive and will drag India into a war even as India is shy, unready and ill prepared in fighting the war.

the risk is always there
not just at the border on the front lines but even inside the cities
consider attacks on generals in GHQ, in the mosques (in Pindi) and on the roads.

that said. when the senior officers visit their men they do follow the SOPs, they don't willingly present themselves to the enemy to take a shot at them. there might be a wall in the front or they are way back beyond the sniper fire and there might be own posts much further in front of this picture so they will be covering for such attack to minimize such risk

Standard Pakistani response in face of threats. Army Chief goes sightseeing LoC and airforce starts flying planes left, right and center.
