Director's Note: The following was originally reported in Urdu by Jehan-e-Pakistan newspaper. It reveals many other statements of the Pakistan Army Chief which, it seems, were purposely censored/ignored by the corporate media in Pakistan that has long been part of a malicious propaganda campaign against the country's military. The team at Terminal X translated it to English for reader convenience.

Addressing a passing-out parade by cadets of the 127th PMA Long Course, 46th Integrated Course and 1st Mujahid Course, Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani said that Islam is the foundation of Pakistan and in no situation can this foundation be ousted from the country.

"We will leave no stone unturned in transforming Pakistan into an ideal Islamic welfare state. Pakistan is a peace loving country, but this should not be considered its weakness. We have patiently ignored provocative statements these past few months; our main focus has been on internal security but rest assured we are fully prepared to effectively deal with external threats as well"

"We managed to control various challenges within a short span of time and are capable of doing this again in the future. We are passing through critical times and in this context, Pakistan Army is fully prepared to counter any aggression with resolute determination. The nation has always supported Pakistan Army".

"I assure you that if we stay attached with the passionate force that motivated the creation of Pakistan, we will be able to make progress as one nation".

"Islam should always remain as a uniting factor. I assure you that despite stern opposition, Pakistan Army will remain committed to the pledge of making Pakistan an ideal Islamic welfare state as envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal".

Pakistan's Army Chief added, "Undoubtedly, no one can harm Pakistan (by God's will) as long as the Pakistan Army and its people stand together as one".

This sends a strong message . . . . . before elections??? Does this text and TTP's offensive against secular parties have something in common???????

.
A very comprehensive and straightforward speech! Strong messages for politicians and some circles who isolate themselves from the war Pakistan army is engage with. He made it crystal clear that army wants elections to be held.

Today's speech at Youm-e-Shuhada was even more straightforward.

He even mentioned that elections will take place on 11 May and dictatorship has been finished now and Army is under civilian government. Pretty strong message...also meaning that Musharraf will get no support from Army.

Why did they edited the speech?? I saw it on geo and the parts of speech that this article claims have been edited were really not shown on tv! Whats wrong?

He specifically mentioned the hide and seek between democracy and dictatorship can also be stopped by participation in elections and not necessarily by banking on JAZZA and SAZAA. Now that means army is supporting Musharaf!

For how long? Only until the Army wants it to be so, just like many times in the past.

Yes, the speech is pretty straight forward.... I agree. A sudden tilt towards Islamic ideology is what suprised me....

Perhaps...but evidence till now suggest that Army is a silent spectator.

. . . .
Yeah, his statement had a condition attached.

Of course. There will be no dictatorship in Pakistan unless the Army decides for us that there needs to be a dictatorship. Just like always. So what is the news here?

. .
there is no sudden tilt towards Islamic ideology tilt has always been towards Islamic ideology

The army is operating against the TTP???? Please correct me........the theme used in the speech is the same as used by the defunct TTP?? Do you disagree
