Gen Kiyani wanted to make Gen Rashid COAS..not Gen Haroon Aslam....He had also groomed Gen Rashid as COAS by making him CGS.. So this is wrong tht he wanted Gen Haroon as his replacement..so this whole news abt Gen Haroon rejecting the offer for CJCSC may also be wrong

lol , the reporter looks like know 'dil ka haal' as well of Nawaz Sharif

According to this news NS decided about COAS long ago but kept this in his heart till last moment ....

funny how some people like get public attention by creating fake news, how on earth he knows what was in NS heart .... shame on such people...

This seems like BS. Since Kayani had absolutely no favor for Haroon Aslam over Rashid Mehmood. Kayani was vying for Rashid Mehmood since the beginning.

A former GOC SSG doesn't get to become CLS if he is one of the favorites of the COAS.

Not COAS but CJSC !

Makes sense doesn't it ?

CLS is to the Army what the CJSC should be to the Armed Forces as a whole - Someone who keeps the machinery running smoothly by ensuring that different arms of the organization aren't suffering from supply chain problems or aren't running on a tangent with respect to each other !

So for someone whose supposed to ensure Intra-Army-Cooperation from a logistical stand point could've been better placed than others to ensure Inter-Army or Inter-Armed Forces-Cooperation from a logistical stand point !

If you read the article again, it says that Kayani wanted Haroon Aslam to become COAS as first choice. The government wanted him to take CJCSC position which he refused.

Makes sense doesn't it ?

Not really, my point still stands that if Kayani wanted him to be COAS, he wouldn't have made him CLS. He would have been commanding a corps or sitting in an important position in GHQ, something like CGS...

No, you can't relate a CJCSC to a CLS. Completely different roles IMO.

CJCSC provides a platform for the tri-services to sit and together and discuss, and also a platform for the nuke discussion.

What difference does it make?

What is done is done. It cannot be changed back. Gen Haroon Aslam(r) has already handed his resignation in.

We can only hope for better, that the current COAS takes an iron fist towards these TTP/Al-Qaeda goons, while the civilian government improves the economic prospects of the nation.

Why hell bent on increasing fire, making an issue out of nothing by PML-N media goons.

First, why would someone refuse to be a four star general and second, if he desired so then he should have been sent home instead of waiting for resign. I don't find any reason for this news to be true.

i still think the ganjas would have preferred john nicholson krishnan gopalaswamy as COAS but they just were unable to find him in time.....

Army may have choosen for longivity and long term for the Younger General so he would help continue the stable presense in Pakistan Army

And I trust the decision of the Army in this matter
