To be honest, I personally don't care about Iran. This is more about learning from history:
1. In recent history, there has been one war against Iran. The Iran/Iraq war. The hallmarks of this war were:
a. A dictator.
b. Pumped up on American backing.
c. Supplied American weapons from oil money.
d. Got his head too high in the air and thought he actually has some sort of military might.
c. In the end both Iran and Iraq got played by Russia/America who sold them just enough weapons to keep fighting for 8 years, with no result.
The current situation looks hauntingly like a b and c. My prediction is d or worse. Plain and simple logic says don't go there.
If we borrow again from history, the successful template to counter Russian imperialistic designs was Afghanistan. Yes, Syria needs our help, but not in the form of overt confrontation. Our best bet is to support Turkey against Kurds and here the Muslim Ummah can provide overt moral and material support. Meanwhile, non-terrorist Sunni independence groups should be supported. Something like MANPADS should be supplied to them. The ISI and SSG can help.
But back in Pakistan, thus country needs someone like Gen Raheel Sharif at the helm. Right now Indian moles are disgracing us right from the top. If our nation is literally led by the enemy how can we ever be successful?
