I will only respond to the part of the post related to your response to my post. Unfortunately the economic crisis is very much related to the political crisis. We have a iserious lack of confidence in addition to economic woes contributed by high fuel prices world wide. Once the political crisis resolves with a-setup, the stock exchange will perk up, and othet indicators might stabilize. As to wider economic woes, I am-afraid the outlook is bleek and I think we need a decade of fiscal restaint and tight reigns on spending while pushing exports vigorously before we can safely say we are out of danger. We need 10 years of stability for that which in Pakistani political parlance is a nonexistent entity. Whatever we do it will have to be an out of the box step to get us out of this-mess.

Step 1 right now would be to get the IMF bailout going again, followed by the Step 2 of completing the program for the first time in Pakistan's history. The bleakness you refer to will come more from overpopulation rather than a complete lack of economic progress, but at least it will take a little bit longer.

The bleakness is from the economic woes and Pakistan just has not learnt to tackle its population. Life is hard and frustrating and when you get frustrated you bonk. Bonking gives you babies whether you like it or not. No one cares about condoms as half do not want to use them and the rest cannot. The economy where jobs are not created by the private sector and people who are a real assett are not utilized appropriately is a bad one. We have the capacity and the will but lack leadership. Reduce defence budget by 80% and increase education budget to at least 5x the defence budget. Bonking will automatically go down.

Earlier, the public would rejoice when there was martial law.

What changed this time? A politician viewed as an honest person, gradually steering Pakistan out of the economic hole, with a strong foreign policy, and then the regime change letter.

And suddenly the majority opened their eyes to the establishment’s circus that was going on from the last 7 decades.

In the bigger picture, fundamentally good is happening in Pakistan.

If not a revolution, a sustained beating of the establishment by the majority should be a viable plan of action.

I are a US Citizen, Pak laws don't apply to me. Damn, were have I heard / read that before ?

PS: I are a Law abiding US Tax Payer, PA can lodge a complaint with the State Department if they so desire, who knows I might get a job with RAND Corp for bashing PA top brass. If HH can land a gig by bashing entire PA then there might be hope for me yet by bashing just the current PA COAS.

There were some amazing plays written in the 50s and 60s. One such play was an Indian one called Adrak kay panjay. The other one was Taleem e Balighan.
The theme of adrak kay panjay was population planning and a-survey was conducted in the area to find out why no household had less than 11 children. The cohort was gathered together and asked why there were so many cjildren in each household. The answer was " Saheb circular railways". Circular railways!!! What do you mean circular railways. The reply was " saheb the last circular railways passes us-by at 11pm. It wakes all of us up. We then cannot go to sleep. We do need to do something to go to sleep" The answer in its-simplicity conveys the frustrations of the lives of the poor. The rich do not know such frustrations in their big kothis and there are other things to keep your mind body and soul occupied.
