For all the junkies who claim we don't value education, and all the jealous people from various nationalities. Here Gaza Strip surpassed Qatar in literacy rate by .01 percent. West Bank is also very high up there at 95.6%. Palestinians all together have 96% literacy rate. 96.4 in Gaza, 95.6 in West Bank. Qatar is second highest with 96.3%.

Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwaitt are well above 90% as well. Libya, Tunisia and Lebanon are all well near 90% as well.

Due to the occupation, we can't put this education into work in both Gaza and West Bank. In Gaza, we can barely export anything, businesses cannot function, most people are unemployed. In West Bank Israel decides what is built and issues permits as it wishes. PA has small budget that can't support economy and Israel controls all the borders, land, water resources, gas, etc...

Literacy rate is about valuing education, Palestinians have very small budgets to work with and under full occupation. They have high literacy rates because they are smart, educated, logical people. You are the only bitch complaining here.

Standards aren't low for the Gaza Strip. We have some of most difficult testing to get entry college major. It is similiar to percentile, can't remember exact numbers but depending on your scores it will determine what major you can accepted into. Medical related programs if I remember correctly demand 94/100 score. Instead of senior year, a year called 'Tawjehee' is done and is testing year to determine your future.

Those numbers are old and inaccurate.

I cannot post links but a little bit of research would show this. Almost every country has wrong numbers.

The entire GCC has a literacy rate of about 98-99% among the locals nowadays.

Even old people (anyone above 75) that live in isolated mountain villages, desert villages etc. in KSA are learning how to read and write due to state sponsored programs to combat the remaining few pockets of illiteracy.
