Gaza-Israel Conflict | October 2023

.
During a recent address at an extraordinary Arab summit in Riyadh, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad criticized Arab leaders for their inaction in the face of Israeli aggression, particularly regarding the ongoing violence against Palestinians. He expressed frustration, stating, "Israel is killing, and the Arabs only keep talking," highlighting the perceived impotence of Arab nations to effectively respond to Israeli military actions.

Key Points from Assad's Address:

  • Call for Action: Assad urged Arab leaders to move beyond mere condemnation and engage in concrete actions to support the Palestinian cause. He emphasized that the situation requires a unified response rather than empty rhetoric.
  • Focus on Palestinian Rights: Throughout his speech, Assad reaffirmed Syria’s commitment to the Palestinian struggle and condemned what he described as ongoing massacres and ethnic cleansing by Israel. He called for a reassessment of strategies among Arab nations to effectively confront these challenges.
  • Critique of Arab Leadership: Assad's remarks reflect a broader sentiment among some Arab leaders who feel that their governments have not taken sufficient action to defend Palestinian rights or challenge Israeli policies. His comments were likely aimed at galvanizing support among Arab states to adopt a more proactive stance.
  • Regional Context: The backdrop of Assad's speech includes heightened tensions in the region due to ongoing conflicts involving Israel, Hamas, and Hezbollah. The Syrian president's call for unity comes amid fears of increased violence and instability affecting Lebanon and Gaza.
Assad's statements resonate with longstanding frustrations regarding the effectiveness of Arab solidarity in addressing issues faced by Palestinians, particularly in light of recent escalations in violence. His appeal for decisive action underscores the urgency many feel regarding the need for a coordinated response from Arab nations.

'For much of this "conflict" I thought Gazans were fighting for their freedom. Then it hit me that they are fighting for all of us and our freedom.'

Chinese President Xi Jinpingrecently addressed the issue of Palestinian rights, stating that "the historical injustice suffered by the Palestinian people can no longer be ignored." His remarks reflect China's ongoing support for the Palestinian cause and its criticism of Western policies in the Middle East.

Key Points from Xi Jinping's Statement:

  • Recognition of Injustice: Xi emphasized the need for the international community to acknowledge and address the long-standing injustices faced by Palestinians, particularly in light of recent escalations in violence and humanitarian crises.
  • Support for Palestinian Statehood: China has consistently advocated for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Xi's comments align with this stance, reinforcing China's position as a supporter of Palestinian self-determination.
  • Call for International Action: The Chinese president urged global powers to take meaningful steps to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, advocating for dialogue and negotiations rather than military solutions. He criticized unilateral actions that exacerbate tensions and hinder peace efforts.
  • Broader Diplomatic Context: Xi's remarks come amid heightened geopolitical tensions in the region, particularly following Israel's military operations in Gaza. China's increasing involvement in Middle Eastern affairs is part of its broader strategy to enhance its diplomatic influence and present itself as a counterbalance to U.S. policies in the region.

Conclusion

Xi Jinping's statements highlight China's commitment to advocating for Palestinian rights on the international stage. As the situation in Gaza continues to evolve, China's role as a mediator and supporter of Palestinian aspirations will likely become more prominent in global discussions about peace and stability in the Middle East.

Israeli airstrikes have targeted multiple areas in Beirut, including residential zones, causing widespread destruction and casualties. The strikes, reportedly aimed at Hezbollah infrastructure, have demolished buildings in densely populated neighborhoods such as Dahiyeh. Civilian deaths and injuries are mounting as some structures were leveled entirely.

Israel's military claims it targeted key Hezbollah operatives and facilities but has faced sharp criticism over the high civilian toll. This marks a significant escalation in the conflict, adding to tensions already heightened by regional instability

israel have an agent network in Beirut as well as continous drone survaillance and cell phone tracking that have designated most if not all bunkers of Hezbollah in Beirut. Any high level meeting in any place in Beirut is lack of thinking and mistake after the killing of Nasrallah. Yes the death of Hezbollah's new leader after israels Nasrallah bunker attack was a lack of thinking mistake too and could be averted. New places should be found for lower level officers in Beirut and other cities of Labennon can be converted to host Hezbollah Hqs and be on alert to change the position of Hqs and settle to other places if need arises in those cities as well.

Russian President Vladimir Putinhas expressed his desire for Islam not to be associated with terrorism. This statement reflects a broader effort to separate the actions of extremist groups from the Muslim faith, emphasizing that the vast majority of Muslims are peaceful and do not support terrorism.

Key Points:

  • Condemnation of Terrorism: Putin's remarks come in the context of ongoing global discussions about terrorism and its impact on various communities. By stating that he prefers Islam not to be linked with terrorism, he aims to highlight the distinction between radical elements and the broader Muslim population.
  • Geopolitical Context: This statement may also serve as a diplomatic gesture aimed at fostering better relations with Muslim-majority countries, particularly in the context of Russia's foreign policy interests in regions such as the Middle East and Central Asia.
  • Historical Perspective: The association of Islam with terrorism has been a contentious issue, often leading to discrimination against Muslim communities worldwide. Leaders like Putin acknowledging this distinction can contribute to efforts aimed at countering Islamophobia and promoting interfaith dialogue.
Putin's comments are part of a larger narrative that seeks to address misconceptions about Islam and emphasize the need for unity against extremism without stigmatizing an entire faith.

Donald Trump's choice for the next U.S. Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth, has sparked controversy by advocating for the construction of a new Jewish temple on the site of the Al-Aqsa Mosquein Jerusalem. This statement, made during a 2018 event in Jerusalem, has resurfaced amid discussions about his appointment and reflects his strong pro-Israel stance rooted in his fundamentalist Christian beliefs.

Key Points

  • Call for a Third Temple: Hegseth expressed that there is "no reason why the miracle of re-establishing the temple on the Temple Mount isn’t possible," indicating his belief in the feasibility of constructing a Jewish temple at this historically and religiously significant site. The Temple Mount is considered the holiest site in Judaism, where two ancient temples once stood.
  • Historical Context: The Al-Aqsa Mosque, located on the same site, is one of Islam's holiest places. The area has been a focal point of religious and political tensions, with restrictions on non-Muslim access and ongoing disputes over sovereignty and control.
  • Political Implications: Hegseth's remarks align with the views of far-right Jewish activists who advocate for building a third temple at the expense of existing Islamic structures. This perspective is controversial and raises concerns about exacerbating tensions between Jewish and Muslim communities in Jerusalem.
  • Support from U.S. Officials: During his speech, Hegseth highlighted that "true believers" in both Israel and America, including prominent figures like Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence, would support such initiatives. This suggests an alignment between certain U.S. political leaders and radical elements within Israeli society.

Broader Reactions

  • Concerns Over Escalation: The idea of building a new temple at Al-Aqsa could lead to significant unrest and violence, as it directly challenges the status quo that has been maintained since Ottoman rule. Many fear that such actions could trigger widespread conflict in an already volatile region.
  • Impacts on U.S.-Middle East Relations: Hegseth's appointment and views may influence U.S. foreign policy towards Israel and Palestine, potentially alienating moderate voices within both communities and complicating peace efforts.

Conclusion

Pete Hegseth's call for a new Jewish temple at the Al-Aqsa Mosque site underscores the complexities of religious and political dynamics in Jerusalem. As discussions surrounding his appointment as Defense Secretary unfold, the implications for U.S.-Middle East relations and regional stability remain significant. The potential for increased tensions highlights the need for careful diplomatic engagement to address these sensitive issues.

I would not go on moral grounds.

Have the intention, as everyone should, and God willing we will get some reward for it. If someone set out to do Hajj, but their way got physically blocked, then they would get the reward for it as if they did it.

I have done Umrah as early teenager.
