The main factor that dragged the US into this situation was its interventionism, starting with the invasion of Iraq and then Afghanistan, trillions of dollars in resources, a million people, and the fact that it had to withdraw after losing every region it intervened in, even making things more difficult for itself than they were even before the intervention. Everywhere they intervened, they created a terrible anti-Americanism, and one by one they destroyed the spheres of influence that the old American bureaucracy had woven after the Second World War.
While the US was squandering its credit in this way, a multipolar world was developing on the other side. The US no longer has the power to intervene directly; instead of fighting directly in Ukraine, its proxy forces are fighting, and instead of fighting directly in Syria, it is using terrorist organizations as pawns. As the US need to withdraw, Israel is trying to further entangle it. Moreover, Israel is also dancing with China recently. The US defense and foreign bureaucracy is in deep shit. They have sunk to this point through a chain of mistakes. And they don't have too much credit left in the whole Middle East for their policies not to collapse completely.
The US has never lost Iran, KSA, Egypt and Turkiye at the same time during its empire. Now, only allies the US can count on in the region are the terrorist organizations. There is a crisis of confidence even with Israel. Just a few months ago, even Netenyahu was claiming that the US was trying to stage a military coup against him.
US invaded Afghanistan to eliminate Al-Qaeda Network - a terrorist organization. Taliban were supporting Al-Qaeda Network so their SOFTWARE was UPDATED and they agreed to not support Al-Qaeda Network in Doha Accords. Biden administration felt that this conclusion was good enough and called for withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan. Pakistan supported this mission.
US invaded Iraq to eliminate Saddam regime - do I have to explain history of this regime? Iraqi Exiles were involved in this plot and many in Iraq welcomed this move due to obvious reasons.

But Assad regime in Syria created problems for Iraq by allowing Al-Qaeda followers in the Middle East to reach Iraq who created Shia-Sunni strife there and this ugly episode claimed many innocent lives in the country. US-led forces defeated these elements in Iraq to stabilize the country and Obama administration concluded this war on this note in 2011, but these rotten elements recovered in Syria and returned to Iraq in 2013 to make ISIL official. Iraqi were fed up for real and recalled US to put an end to this menace in this region. US returned to Iraq in 2014 to defeat ISIL in the region, therefore.
For decades, the United States has operated out of bases and facilities throughout the Middle East. As security priorities have changed and relationships with host countries have evolved, so have the locations and needs of U.S. forces in the region.

Thousands of American troops are stationed in different sectors of the Middle East including in Iraq and Syria where they are involved in clearing ISIL elements with Iraqi government and SDF group in Syria (Operation Inherent Resolve).
The United States used airpower in Syria and Iraq to halt ISIS's momentum and help defeat the organization, without committing a large number of ground forces.

This report, which outlines four battles within Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR) and reviews U.S. ground force contributions to those battles, is intended to address gaps both in analysis and in the common understanding of OIR.

Those trillions were not exactly spent but profits were made:
The Costs of War Project is a team of 35 scholars, legal experts, human rights practitioners, and physicians, which began its work in 2011. We use research and a public website to facilitate debate about the costs of the post-9/11 wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.

New weapon systems developed.
New military doctrine introduced.
New tactics established.
American Operation Inherent Resolve is a COIN masterpiece - never seen a COIN operation so well-executed before.
And last time I checked - Turkey is in NATO and Egypt is at peace with Israel.
In fact, US has announced a new corridor to connect India and Europe through the Middle East. The infrastructure for this corridor is virtually complete but I think the current Palestinian crisis will be addressed first.

US-led forces can crush Russian forces in Ukraine (like they crushed Iraqi forces in 2003) but this is not American war to begin with. US has found a way to damage Russia by not firing a shot in Ukraine. This is Biden's masterstroke. To hurt your enemy without putting your own troops at risk.
Only fools think that US cannot fight a war:

American economy is the largest in the world. Russian economy is peanuts in comparison.
This multi-polar world that people wished for will haunt many in fact. How many countries were safe during the Cold War? How many are safe now?
I am not sure what Muslims want to see? US wipe out entire countries to prove something? a World War?
Come on, now. Anti-American sentiments are mostly here on PDF - not in streets around the world. People want to do business with Americans to earn money. People don't have time to argue with hot heads on PDF.
Common sense is important and should prevail.
I see so much ignorance and sentiments - not good.
