Ground realities are worse in many countries than Pakistan ... especially in Bd and Gd but they are supported by lobbies and media while country like China that produces very high quality products and some that outshine any competition, still suffers bad repo due to Sinophobia in the west especially USA. All major cities of Pakistan are safe enough especially Lahore, Peshawar, Multan, Faisalabad and Islamabad etc.. Even Karachi is safer than many cities like Sao Paolo etc. It is all about media, biases and lobbies.

I am on a Sabbatical from work till the new year (!!). Taking my wife to Pakistan in December for two weeks. I'd feel far safer in Pakistan than in Latin America. I'd probably feel safer in Africa than in Latin America.

I have been considering going to Latin America on a solo trip but decided against that. Most of the continent is too dangerous even though full of many wonderful people, music, cuisines, landscapes. I was on a cruise ship barely 10 days ago; asked a staff from Peru. She told me point blank: "Most places in Peru are very dangerous".
